Re: 3:00 Neighborhood Camps
On another note.. I'm pretty stoked at reading all the camps in our area.. sounds like a great year to be on the 3 side. Did I hear something about a Canadian craft beer sampling? Sha-wing! You heard correct! Swing by 2:45 and B and join us at the Canadian Cascadian Tiki Lounge for some frosty craf...

Daily protection for sound gear
This will be our first year as an actual placed theme camp and we're planning to have a little dance area and some music for the peeps. One thing that has been an on-going discussion in our planning meetings is how to best protect our rental gear (CDJ's, mixer, sub, speakers etc) from the elements a...

Re: 3:00 Neighborhood Camps
I have a question for Trilo or Simon. i am not an BMOrg member or moderator or have any association other than long time burner, so Trilo is the one to ask, not me...He's Got the Official LowDown. i can only offer you what i know, and that is unofficial, at best. we have had "Unusual Shapes" in the...

Re: 3:00 Neighborhood Camps
On the topic of placed camps etc - I have a question for Trilo or Simon. Do you guys know why they don't release placement boundaries for placed camps (or if they sometimes do)? We were told we got 100x100 but that it was 'weird shaped'. We're very pleased to have gotten placement and are totally pr...

Ahoy neighbors! The Canadian Cascadian Tiki Lounge makes it's debut this year at 2:45 and B! Come join us for some fantastic craft beers from the Cascadian range! Enjoy mid-day craft beer tastings in the shade and tasty beats under the stars! We are absolutely over the moon with our placement this y...

Re: Arrival from the north
We're traveling down from Vancouver as well. We always spend our last night in Klamath falls (free overnight RV parking in the Walmart lot) and then just get up early (7ish) to drive the last 5 or 6 hours. We've never really had problems getting into line etc. I see you found a spot in Cedarville - ...

Re: Who got tickets in the Individual Sale?
I got my tickets by 12:05, somehow never saw the line or any pauses though I got the "Connection has been reset" page right at 12:01. Hit refresh, got in and then it gapped out a few times saying the service was down. I managed to select my tickets but then it just stopped replying or loading the pa...

Ya I gotta say man, stop agonizing about it - you've already admitted that you're interested/curious so why not try it out? If we talked ourselves out of every new thing we might try just because we 'might not like it' we'd live the boring-est lives ever.. Just look at Bilbo, imagine if he'd just ta...

Re: Playa Conditions 2014
One of our camp leaders (Treehouse Camp) was working on the Treehouse art car when it was struck Monday am. He took a pretty big load of current but was fine in the end, if not a little shaken up.
He did come out of it with a new playa name though - Bolt.

Re: First Timer - Looking for a Camp
Hey Dsnook, welcome to eplaya! There is the burner express bus which is a pretty decent solution for people heading to the playa without a vehicle, though as I understand it, ticket sales for it may already be finished. This is a good spot to look for car-pooling and ride sharing. I'm not sure where...

Heya roninsmurf, welcome to eplaya! You will probably have better luck doing your own legwork here on the site than asking for help (results may vary wildly!). A good start would be checking out the theme camp section of these forums as that's where camps generally advertise space for newcomers. Goo...

Welcome to eplaya man! This year is also my second and I'm actually feeling like its MORE exciting than last year. Last year I had a decent idea of what I was getting myself into but not necessarily the enormity of it. This year is my first time returning home and now I'm prepared and am barely cont...

Welcome to the eplaya Neil! As you guys are birgins - have you considered camping withOUT camp? From afar it always seems like being part of a camp is the way to do things, right? But its totally possible to have an awesome experience just simply by camping. Get to know your neighbors and make frien...

Also, as a first time burner you are woefully ill-experienced to offer this sort of feedback. Once you've seen all of this first hand you may realize that a lot of your points are way off base. But as Trilo mentioned, spend a couple hours here searching for threads on the topics you raise to see tha...

Stay safe. Don't do anything stupid. Also nice to know is while its a huge pain to have your shit torn apart and searched and fined $500 they're not out there to arrest people. They just want your money. Totally true and if you're a US resident then it's just a ding on your wallet - if you are from...

As to the comment in that article about it being racist? That's garbage.. it's insensitive and offensive at worst but most definitely not racist. As I understand it the thinking is if you're completely ok with being insensitive and offensive towards a particular race of people, especially when your...

Well, definitely wear what you like but you've already identified that there is basically an entire culture that is upset about the appropriation. So, knowing that.. why bother? And don't not wear it because you're concerned about some busy-body coming up to you and calling you out on it - don't wea...

Re: Seeking inexpensive projector & advice for art project
Projector fans suck in dust. The best setup I have seen are projectors in RV's shooting out the window or in pickups shooting out the window. ePlaya Stickygreen has experience with projectors on the playa. This. Not only do they suck in dust but the lamps get incredibly hot - add in that the filter...

I'll also add that it's wise to give your bags/luggage a little clean beforehand. Whenever I know I'm traveling across a border I take a moment to wipe out some of the pockets and generally give it a clean.. dogs man, its unbelievable what they can smell from however long ago. Ultimately the minor e...

Considering the near hurricane force winds that can crop up out on the playa, I would say no they are not adequate. Now, on any sunny/breezy day on the playa I'm sure they'd do just fine if hammered down well enough but that's not a risk I'd be willing to take, or one your neighbors would enjoy, sho...

Re: Easy Tent Shade Structure
Tent inception seems to be your best option. Get a couple battery powered fans and you could rig up an airflow through the outer tent, which would help keep the inner tent cooler. It will still get warm, since well, you're in the desert, but it would be better than having direct sun bake you in your...

Awesome! That's a block from where we camped last year! I'll definitely come 'round! Thanks for the feedback on the reed fencing. I wasn't sure how it would hold up based on reviewers who had only used it in their backyards. As our layout is right now, we have cars lining the "back wall" of the flow...
