Re: Tankers coveralls with butt flap - seeking a source
So I ordered a pair off an eBay seller (search for "USED REPAIRED CVC SUIT FLIGHT SUIT MENS") and just got them yesterday. First, it's pretty light weight - not insulated, etc. Second, holy crap there are a lot of zipper pockets all over this thing. Third, butt flap indeed will make porta potty time...

Re: Tankers coveralls with butt flap - seeking a source
Aww you're so cute. The search results are basically useless on that link. Would be great if I was looking for something like pajamas. I did finally find this set on eBay -> https://www.ebay.com/itm/USED-CVC-SUIT-FLIGHT-SUIT-MENS-genuine-u-s-military-army-tankers-coveralls/142411292254 The key was t...

Tankers coveralls with butt flap - seeking a source
I've heard of tankers coveralls with a butt flap as a practical and useful piece of gear. The flap sounds hugely practical as I can't imagine trying to "drop cov" in a messy porto later in the week and keep from dipping it in the floor debris. Doing some eBay searching it's been a bit hit or miss to...

Yes, literally for thousands of years. See http://www.ucl.ac.uk/news/news-articles ... khan-dress
Also, yes, I've personally sewn oddballish things to wear.

Re: cooling your tent or van
... Doesn't it just have to cover the holes like shown? Seems like this should work, as it's just the air coming in the holes and going through the pad that counts. Ergo just put pad over the holes. I suppose there could be a bit of wicking of water up from the bucket if it goes all the way down, b...

Re: cooling your tent or van
Would this 55Ah battery do the trick for the week? http://www.ebay.com/itm/UPG-UB12550-12V-55Ah-Scooter-Wheelchair-Mobility-Deep-Cycle-SLA-AGM-Battery-/131179320949?hash=item1e8ae59675 The best setup is a small car battery it runs off, along with a solar setup that is keeping the battery charged. S...

Re: cooling your tent or van
Also, Amazon has this fan with a 4-pin connector. Can I just ignore 2 of those pins and plug directly into the power supply? Yes you can. Something like this, where pins 3 and 4 you leave unconnected. Pin 1 - Ground - Black Pin 2 - 12v - Yellow Pin 3 - Sense - Green Pin 4 - Control - Blue I'd expec...

Re: cooling your tent or van
It will work, but something I've noticed is that the lower the water level, the more wet pad is exposed, the better it works. When I first fill my bucket for the day, I have about the same exposed pad as your diagram and it works fine. As the water evaporates, it gets even better. 8) Makes sense! M...

Re: cooling your tent or van
I see your pad shifting or pressing against the holes in the bucket and creating a leaking problem. Part of having the pad go clear to the bottom is that it centers the pad so that the holes are 1/4" away from the pad to prevent leaks. So if I could keep it clear of the holes with some kind of craf...

Re: cooling your tent or van
Pugsly, If the water level drops below the level of your reduced blue-pad, then the cooling effect is lost. The incoming air would just find the path of least resistance--down and under instead of thru the blue pad. Not if you seal it to the sides of the bucket with (for example) a compression ring...

Re: cooling your tent or van
Can't seem to find an existing post asking this (but I bet it's around)... Does the pad really have to go all the way to the bottom of the bucket? Doesn't it just have to cover the holes like shown? Seems like this should work, as it's just the air coming in the holes and going through the pad that ...

For coolness: 7 Deadly Gins - It was kinda the go to spot. I liked the age diversity, and how all KINDS of people danced on that bar - all ages, all genders. Not too loud, not too quiet. It was an " everybody has fun" kinda place. For sheer gifting awesomeness with a crude camp that actually was a ...

Really not sure what you mean onharley. Are you suggesting that I shouldn't have gone for a cycle along L one afternoon, or have thoughts about PnP camps because "That's not participating"? I think s/he means, "Stop sweating these camps - there were so many other things you could do." Personally, I...

Re: DJ Art Cars And Their Effect On Art
Oh one positive experience. My daughter and I were out in the deep late at night at the art installation with the balloons being lit by music (forget the name of it). A MV came by, but quickly turned it down when they got close. They were clearly conscious of their intrusion, and acted appropriately.

Re: DJ Art Cars And Their Effect On Art
El Pulpo Mecanico came rolling through our neighborhood on Monday afternoon, with long-time art-cartist Duane Flatmo himself at the wheel, playing Simon & Garfinkle's "Me and Julio Down by the Schoolyard" at a nice moderate Playa-appropriate volume. Night and day from the Dancetronauts' abusive "se...

Two bits of info to pass on after putting mine together last night... First, I bought one of these pumps off Amazon a while back. When I turned it on last night for the first time, it had a horrible whine. I took it apart (4 screws on the ends), removed the impleller, and shot a bit of silicone spra...

Re: cooling your tent or van
I've been gathering materials for one of these, but the thing that's not so easy (in the PNW where I live) is that pad. Home Depot has it online, but it's not in any stores near by, and they won't ship it - local pickup only. Basically I'm trying to save some money on all this. Not cut corners, but ...
