Re: DJ Art Cars And Their Effect On Art

I made it out to playa only a couple times this year, and was struck at how deafening the cacophony was. Last year ( my first) was much more pleasent, with the din a a much more tolerable level. The night of the Man burn was simply deafening. Despite supposed dB restrictions on art cars, it was infi...

Re: Dye with dignity

I'm also scraping at things to get my mind off what seems to be the impending doom of my playa trike that is at 95% complete and slowing down.... oh YES! This lovely fantasy is ever present at this time of year. Displacement. I always think of a dog that is about to be in a fight, but all of a sudd...

Re: Border between public and private in theme camp

You could make 2-dimensional monkeyhut. Rebar pounded at such an angle that your chosen diameter of PVC makes an arch of the desired height and width. By overlapping the arches you could make a decorative yet insubstantial wall. Put lights on it if you want. http://i.imgur.com/YbTF7nF.png hey I lik...

Re: Border between public and private in theme camp

Thanks for the feedback on the reed fencing. I wasn't sure how it would hold up based on reviewers who had only used it in their backyards. As our layout is right now, we have cars lining the "back wall" of the flow space. I just want to try and figure out an attractive cover so that when folks come...

Re: Border between public and private in theme camp

Also just thought of those reed fences you can get at the big hardware stores. Does anyone have experience with those on the playa?

Thanks again!

Border between public and private in theme camp

I'm trying to figure out what the best way is to divide between our public facing camp and our private "back of house" camp. We'll have a fairly large space on the street that will be pretty much all flow space. Our camping will be mostly in the far back corner. As it is dedicated to spinning, we wo...

Re: To cloak or not to cloak?

Last year, I got a couple of wide-brimmed hats with chin straps and draped about 2 yards of light colored airy fabric over them to keep my head and shoulders engulfed in shade. Kept my hands mostly free and if you get something lacey enough, you can even see through it. I think it helped a little on...

Re: Bike Builders Unite

I'm about a day of surface prepping away from laying the first welds on my new playa trike. Been learning welding just for this project, and it's been a blast! I have just a few questions for which I have been unable to find satisfactory answers. 1: What is the best way to clean grease off bearings?...

Re: One item for BMan 2014 a day

New to the thread, but excited about the progress I've made on my Playa Trike. Got my welding down to a point where I can start actually building the frame, and have the first four pieces rough cut and ready to be fit up for welding! Building the Atomic Zombie Cargo trike, if any are curious. Also, ...
