Re: Hauling water from Default home to BRC vs Filling in Ren

I wanted to share my approach to bringing in potable water...I did this in 2014 and will repeat again this year I purchased (4) 60 gallon Aquabags, version II, and had custom covers fabricated to take the UV, rubbing and abuse... I filled up at RV park in Reno...we used for drinking and camp showers...

Re: Amperage draw before and after DC to AC inverter

Be sure to use a strong surge protector between your generator and all your power loads. Not only is the cost of a excellent surge protector cheap insurance, it's much cheaper than replacing the equipment damaged.... And once on the playa you'll have no recourse. Search Graybar and Grainger for a st...

Specifically, what are the continuous and peak surge requirements of the gear you plan to power?

Have you field tested anything yet?

Re: Amperage draw before and after DC to AC inverter

What brand/type/size of inverter?

Is it a modified sine wave or pure sine wave?

Modified are 20% less efficient than pure sine wave

What is the capacity and peak surge of your inverter?

Re: Amperage draw before and after DC to AC inverter

Amperage draw is theoretical and based on math equations.....if you use small wires, imperfect terminals and a loose connection, the amperage drop will be significant!!!! Choose copper compression terminal lugs (bought at commercial electrical supply house), 2/0 or 3/0 copper cable insulated (Lowes)...

Re: Damage to Solar Panels in Storms?

Solar experts tell me that solar panels sold in US must withstand a baseball striking surface at 60 MPH I've seen pictures of RV roofs after a hailstorm and everything was obliterated except the solar panels. I've had mine 6 years with no problems.....spray clean when dusty and you can improve effic...

Ammonia will become your new best friend when you need to remove corrosion on electrical connections. No need to apply any wire brushing or manual effort; get a little solo cup( if need be cutting it down to the height needed) pour in some household ammonia and watch the clear ammonia turn blue as i...

your initial comment suggests that you could benefit from a better understanding of the principles of recharging the battery: Go to battery tender.com and read :Battery Charging Basics. May I suggest an automatic sump pump powered by 12 volt battery. If shower is placed above a wading pool to catch shower greywater, the pump only turns when greywater is present.

I'm building a graywater evaporation system using a Sahara S500; cost of pump is $42 at Manventure Outpost

I camp in the desert north of Moab for 2 to 3 months each year and use an outdoor felt fabric for the floor of my shelter sold by Home Depot; about a 1/8 inch thick, rolls up nice, 12 feet wide. Granite gray in color, Lightweight and inexpensive; does not tear easily even when wet

I use a Rotopax and mount it on the ladder of my truck camper

Available on web or many dealers in US

Also the mount can be adapted to fit in vertical or horizontal position on motorcycles
