Re: What did you learn this year?
Blister advice. My husband was a runner for over 30 years. If you get a blister or sore spot put that white sticky adhesive tape You mean the medical tape for holding gauze pads on? DIRECTLY ON THE BLISTER. No. You won't get an infection. No. You can't take it off. It stays there till new skin grow...

Re: Anybody else have a good experience at a plug-n-play cam
There's an AMA with a plug-n-play staff member going on in the Burning Man Reddit, where s/he claims that the Yellow Bikes are funded by a turnkey camp:

Re: What did you learn this year?
I learned that I need to: -Break in a new pair of boots COMPLETELY and test them with lots of running around and dancing in the hot sun. Two weeks of low-intensity walking around in a city prior to the burn is not enough. Severe blisters popped up on both big toes within 2 days of my arrival on-play...

Re: '14 cheers and jeers
Cheers to whoever radically redesigned Exodus this year. I left on Monday evening and did not have to bring my car to a full stop once on the way out. Cheers to the staff at Star Star Roadhouse who spent several hours talking with me about plug-and-play camps, patiently answering all of my questions...

Re: Questions about this small sound system
Update on this: Nixiebunny hooked me up with a sweet amp and gave me some quality tech support to help me install it, and I tested the system this weekend. With the amp, speaker, and an 80 Ah deep cycle battery (they didn't have 105 Ah at the auto parts store), it's still pretty lightweight; I was a...

Re: One item for BMan 2014 a day
Set out all my bins with labels--each label is a piece of paper with the bin category written on it, placed on the floor in front of the bin; I don't actually label the bin until I'm sure that I don't need to switch it out for a smaller one. Packed all the gear that I have in my apartment, minus cos...

How is drinking on a mutant vehicle allowed?
I'm trying to figure out how the BM Closure Order works, in terms of what additional privileges are legally granted to participants while they're in BRC. One issue I'm thinking about is consuming alcohol on a mutant vehicle. Here's the Nevada law on open containers in a moving vehicle: NRS 484B.150 ...

Re: The Unspoken Eleventh Principle
I think of the yahoos as an unconscious form of QA testing. Just as the wind will take down any structure that is insufficiently secured, so will the boorish masses take down a cultural product whose creators aren't passionate enough about it. When a slack-jawed dullard in full default mode trudges ...

Re: What am I forgetting?
Toothbrush. One year I forgot it, and had a rough couple days until someone saved my burn by gifting me a travel toothbrush.

It doesn't look like there are any Oklahoma posts on the rideshare board, but you could try contacting the OK Regional group and see if anyone has space:

Re: Questions about this small sound system
I haven't measured the draw yet. Thanks for the Kill-A-Watt suggestion, I'll pick one up today. Would this tell me anything about the inverter's efficiency, or just how much power the amp is pulling from the inverter once it's transformed the voltage? Seems like it would be the latter. The reason wh...

Questions about this small sound system
I'm working on a small-scale sound system that I'll be carrying with me on a bike cart, consisting of the following: -12v deep cycle battery, 105 Ah -1200 watt inverter -300 watt receiver -Peavey PR15 speaker -Laptop, or MP3 player if I don't feel like DJing -Big Boy EL wire driver Couple of questio...

Re: Vet burner having trouble getting into the spirit
An update: So, I have decided to camp with "Knitting Camp". It's not really _my_ camp, but I realized that it's going to be cold out there and they'll have plenty of wool and other cozy fabrics with which I can make a nice cuddly blanket to spread around myself and others on those cold nights. I'm d...

Re: Vet burner having trouble getting into the spirit
That all sounds depressing. Have you considered talking to someone trained in dealing with this type of stuff? You mean counseling? I've been giving it some thought, as at this point I'm not sure if the way I'm feeling is normal or if I need some help. I think that's part of what I'm doing in askin...

Vet burner having trouble getting into the spirit
[trigger warning: jaded burner pity party] This will be my 10th burn. I must confess that it just feels like a lot of pointless work right now and I'm not feeling the thrill. The camp that I usually go with seemed like they were breaking up, most of the core people aren't going this year, so I decid...
