Re: Hello and Welcome... What's your name? Tell me about You
Welcome to ePlaya, demeter! You're part of the KOI pound? Good burners there, at least the ones I've met that have made it to Interfuse. You know saint Al? Good guy. One question though: fill us in on what "Mosaic" is. Is it the KOI Pound decom? Nope! Mosaic is their newest burn! Last year was the ...

What NOT to Bring to the Playa?
Besides the things that are explicitly not allowed at Burning Man (dogs, guns, cheap feather boas, etc)... What are things that are useless on the Playa? What should someone not bring? What have you brought in the past thinking you'd need it but in the end it was just a waste of space? Things I've h...

Today I updated my packing list and made a separate list of all the things left on the list. Only 11 things left to purchase and approximately 30 total to pack!

Re: Low Income Ticket Program Information
Hello all, has anyone received the "confirmation" email that was supposed to be sent out late summer? Please note, I am not talking about the "award email." I leave for the playa in a few weeks and don't have everything needed to pick up my ticket at will call considering you need printed copy of y...

Waze App Usage?
I saw for last year there was an option to join a "group" on Waze and see other cars driving to Burning Man. For those of you that used this last year, can you give a review? Was it actually useful? I have a Windows8 phone so unfortunately Waze doesn't yet support the groups function, but I was curi...

Re: Hello and Welcome... What's your name? Tell me about You
Hello! I'm Demeter. I was gifted that name at Alchemy: The Georgia Burn a few years ago. I've been to 2-3 Alchemys, 2 Scorched Nuts, and I'll be going to Mosaic in Ohio after BM this year. I'm part of the Cincinnati Burner community called the KOIpound which is actually a lot larger than one could e...

I was more worried about when the wind blew... could it blow hard enough to push the camper?Jackass wrote:You don't need wheel chocks if you put down the stabilizer jacks (2 or 4) and "unload" the suspension. I've never bothered to use chocks on flat ground.

I'm towing a 900lb Coleman pop-up camper with a 2009 Toyota Corolla. Its tow limit is 1500lbs (but the same exact vehicle is rated for 2000 in Canada??) and we're coming from Ohio! Wish me luck :P Edited to add: I've only owned the camper for a year (although I was 2-3 years old when it was manufact...

Re: Pop-Up Campers: Not an RV, not a tent (Advice?)
I would highly recommend not using the built in awning. I have seen several of these self destruct in wooded campgrounds - from much smaller gusts than we often see on the playa. A separate shade structure would be the way to go. Hmm.. My camp has a community shade area... guess I just will play it...

Re: Pop-Up Campers: Not an RV, not a tent (Advice?)
You may end up having to lug your firewood wheel chocks some distance to find a proper place to burn them unless you plan on bringing your own regulation burn barrel. I like how you were going for the efficiency thing, but I'd suggest you use something less MOOPy, and just take them back home with ...

Re: Voided Tickets?
What would be your ideal answer to these questions? I think the ideal answer would be "naw, they don't scan them, as long as you have a ticket with a stub on the end they can rip off, you're fine" That, however, is an unreasonable expectation. I'm just wondering if this is a likely possibility, how...

Voided Tickets?
So if you buy a third-party ticket at face value, have the physical ticket in hand and it appears legitimate, it's not on the list of voided tickets... is it possible to show up at the gate and be told your ticket had been voided? What happens then? Are there any options for people that this happens...

I lose things, sit things down, and otherwise generally don't keep track of my things.
I did, however, go to a college in Ireland that put ages on their photo IDs.
Would this suffice?

Another option is to have a belt to clip it onto. I don't know exactly what your scarf's set-up is, but if it's long enough, I've used belts in the past.

where it attaches to the trailer would be your failure point. Hmmm... any way to circumvent this? Other than... retract it everytime you leave camp to be safe and keep it from potentially ripping off and wrecking your neighbor's campsites when left unattended. as it is attached 10' in the air and r...

I'm using my FitBit! You can set it to have vibrating reminders at specific times. I'm going to set it to go off with enough time for me to return to camp and get ready for my shift. That way, I'll get the reminder on my wrist without relying on clocks and cell phones.

Also, Most auto shops (around here: Auto Zone, Advanced Auto Parts, O'Reilly Auto Parts) will charge your battery for free. You just drop it off to them in the morning and come back in 8 hours or so! I have 3 car batteries I am bringing with me this year and I'm going to take them up there a few day...

Pop-Up Campers: Not an RV, not a tent (Advice?)
This will be my first trek to the Playa and I'm bringing my 1994 Coleman Cedar - Destiny by Fleetwood pop-up camper. It has a sun-shade with attachable sides. I'm leaving the sides at home since they just use velcro to attach and take up more space than they are worth. The "roof" of the shade though...

I've seen multiple posts from people whose tickets listed in STEP never sold. As both of my cousins are registered in STEP and were never offered a ticket (and yes, checked their email daily and spam folders), this surprises me. Did any of you register to buy in STEP and not get offered a ticket? Di...
