I picture you standing with your arms crossed defiantly across your chest and your chin jutting.
A strong and yet distant look in your eyes.
An intensity and yet....not.

AntiM - I too did not get the opportunity to meet you at the Burn/M&G when I last attended. Nonetheless, you have my heartfelt sympathy for your loss. I too lost a husband to cancer a number of years ago. May you find happiness in your memories.

Re: F-U bike theif @ Distrikt 8/30!!!
2015 - group of young guys camped next to us had a bike stolen from Center Camp. He was crushed - required a hug and a glass of wine. It was wonderful watching them spend the afternoon jerry rigging some standing pedals on one of their other bikes so stolen dude could come along for the ride. It did...

AntiM. You have my deepest sympathy. I don't believe I ever met you - I've only attended one Burn to date but I see that your friends on this forum love you dearly.

Re: Please help find my brother Tim Keller
It's a no-win situation for sure. So much planning goes into getting ready - to be summoned home (and for such a potential reason) would be tough. Many years ago, I was planning a 2-week camping trip to the Keys when my mom was diagnosed with cancer. I was appalled with myself for feeling disappoint...

Re: Please help find my brother Tim Keller
Frankly, it was pretty fucking harsh and insensitive. He should be given the choice to return or not.
There is always next year to spend at the Burn. There may not be a next year to spend with his dad.
This, of course, makes an unfounded assumption that he and his dad have a good relationship.

Re: Bike Options When Flying
I did 2015 sans bike. It's a lot of walking...well, it's as much walking as you choose to do. Apart from ending up with some bruised toenails, I enjoyed walking and the participation and random greeting that resulted. I know I didn't see as much of everything as those on bikes but that was okay. It ...

Re: Outside services for camps in 2018
IMHO, I think that many people who avail themselves of the Burner Express do plan all year, knowing fully that they are limited in what they can take. While I see the overall point and certainly agree with not providing people a bike-in-a-box, excluding those who devote themselves to the type of pla...

Re: New burner looking at 2018. Tons of questions.
Perhaps we can assume that there is a reason his spouse prefers an RV or trailer. Think it's pretty pompous to simply state "don't bring her" with the assumption that she will be some kind of anchor. I think any adventure can challenge a relationship. But IMHO, simply dismissing a partner because th...

Go. Know that you can always leave early if you feel the need.
If you don't go, you will spend time wondering if you should have. And you won't be able to resolve those wonderings.

2014 with no bike. Has its advantages - see things at a slower pace and tend to stop in and visit more. And boy those cool water/vinegar foot soaks felt good at day's end. But no...get a junker off craigslist. You'll see a lot more and your big toenail won't fall off.
