Re: Party/Bar Requirements for Legal Drinking Age

I carry my wallet with me. Everywhere I go, its safer with me than in my car/yurt/camp. If I fall over dead, at least the medic will know who I am. Our bar asks for ID - at our age (40+) it's prety easy to spot a fake or underage. We just ask them to move over for the next patron. Cap't is right. Ag...

Heavy Duty brown canvas tarp under the shade, with smaller carpets. Regular tent stakes. White canvas painters drop cloths in the mini yurt. Stay away from poly blue tarps! One year (the year it rained) a campmate spent hours pulling out blue threads from the playa.

We have been Care Flight members for years (like Token said, 50 a year, Calstar etc) - I did ask them if they cover Burning Man and Black Rock Desert and they said yes, you will have to request that from the EMS provider on playa, but they may just transport you with their provider. Reno Gazette Journal 'reports' no fences around Man or Temple at Burning Man. https://www.rgj.com/story/life/arts/burning-man/2018/07/13/burning-man-no-fences-around-man-temple-burns-year/780787002/ I had a dream the event was moved to Disneyland. I drove it last week, from Denio past the mine at sulfur to trego then across the playa to gerlach. Parts of it are rough and I would not recommend it on the way to BM. Stay on the pavement!

Go for the 10x10 flat top shade made from 1" EMT, for about $100 of parts. You won't regret it.

Shade - Water - Bike are the top three on my list.

I am also interested in this for my old schwinn, which I have put a three speed rear hub on. Would like to leave the bike as is and do the front drive. Hope to do it myself on a budget, so please send some info our way.

Re: How to stabilize generator for art car

Hey there Getting clean power out of a diesel(?) generator can be tricky. If there is a steady load the power will fluctuate less. You may have to condition the power at each point of use with a UPS for the most sensitive parts. Generators designed for home use (usually natural gas) have more power ...

Re: Monkey Hut vs Carport vs Other Shade Over Van??

EMT flat tops work well. Attached to the rack with an air space, and side wall on the driver side. Silver tarp out, black side down, stretched with bungee balls. Parts from the yuma store. I park the slider door to the lee side. I am a big fan of flat tops, they are playa tested. Luigi @ VW Bus Camp

Hi Clay Sounds like you need: 12 volt bilge pump with a float switch (so it only turns on when the float says it is needed) Deep cycle 12 volt battery Charge controller (to avoid over charge of battery) Solar panel The key to your question is the size of your pump and how long it will run (how many ...

Good question - what direction? It appears bmorg has gone down a road of no return. I took this year off - just did not have the prep time, energy and cash to make it, even though I am a Reno local. On burn day I visited the NV Museum of Art which has a good exhibit "City of Dust - the Evolution of ...

Three years ago I built a six foot stretch - big enough for two twin beds and my clothes. Cooled it with the fig jam 5 gallon bucket cooler run on a deep cell battery and small solar panel. I have 3/4 emt for my flat tops which has held up for three years ok. - BUT if I would do it again would use 1". I had the 3/4 from another fest so added to it for BM. No way would I use 1/2. My opinion is 3/4 is the minimum.

I am with the Cap't - ditch the loud gen set. But if not possible, use soft material in the box like fig jam said - old shag carpet! I also have had luck with changing the exhaust muffler, but not all gens allow that.

I wrap 5-6 pipes with cheap electrical tape in 2 places, it's easier to lift onto my roof rack. Then cam lock webbing straps. Sometimes wrap a package for a 10X10 in the tarp that will be stretched on it and bungee that together.

Hello Fear and Welcome to the eplaya boards, where all the info is. I have to agree with the Captain, $1500 sounds about minimum. Re: Picking a Generator

Another question about de-rating the wattage output for elevation. The Generac people say 3.5% less power output for every 1000 feet above sea level and 1% for every 10 degrees above 60F. So at 4000 feet and 90 degrees you lose about 17% power. Thats significant if true. Any experience? BTW I use a ...
