Captain, I have been thinking the same thing. BMORG's rainy day fund will be gone, and gatherings of this sort are the most risky way to exposure yourself to covid. My neighbor doctor says 'three years' of this new way of life.
It may not be gone, but is sure will be different.

JENNY KANE, RENO Gazette Journal RENO, Nev. (AP) — While money may not be welcome in the economy of Black Rock City, money is necessary to create the city. It took more than $44 million to run the Burning Man Project and erect the arts metropolis in the Black Rock Desert in 2018, according to the Bu...

When traveling in my van, I use an app called 'park advisor' It shows truck stops, rest areas, koa, campgrounds, rv sites and walmarts. With reviews by users, it is very helpful.
Sounds like quite the adventure - there are many trucks on the road!

Re: Volunteerism Decline Discussion
I too volunteered for center camp cafe the first few years, but found it kind of commercial. Liked being a register jock and meeting the people. Handling money and getting a cup full of tips at the end of the shift did not sit well with me, even though all the tips bought ice. After a few years off,...

Also be aware Idaho is not 420 friendly. The state troopers stage "drug interdiction" stops using dogs. I had a bad experience going north on hwy 95 NV-OR-ID. Being near legal states, Idaho is making an effort to keep mary jane out of the state.

If you can use the car as an anchor point for a flat top, it works well. I always have had a roof rack on my vans that serves as the tie in for the flat top, and also shades the car. As token says, the car can be a wind break. If you can some how put a wind stop on the wind side of the car below the...

In Nevada the vehicle is registered/taxed by weight. My chevy 2500 weighed around 5000 lbs. and was taxed same as a car. Here is the fee schedule: For every motor truck, truck-tractor or bus, which has a declared gross weight of: Less than 6,000 pounds, a fee of $33. Not less than 6,000 pounds and n...

I have used a cord like this running from the bucket outside to my home made battery box (which has a 35ah lith-ion) with no issues. The battery box is inside my 6 foot stretch yurt and I just plug it in when needed. I use a 50 watt solar panel to charge it. With out doing the math my gut says you a...

Yes it will be tough on Wednesday morning. Hosed? maybe not, simply because there are only 2 of you. Look at the 'theme' camps and ask if it's ok to set up. This will take some patience - maybe you will get lucky on the 3-4th try. It sure seems like there are more 'theme' camps looking for 'members'...

Check the rules for a bike with 4 wheels. They may ask questions at the gate.

Reno knows about Burning Man and is there to serve. Here is a pic of the 'garden' section of w.mart in west Reno just before the event. They cleared out all the garden supplies and had a boatload of huffy bikes. I use the 5 gallon jugs - but switching over to 3 gal. size because they are easier to h...

Good question. The numbers are from the BLM info on the EIS. When I went to the BLM town hall meeting in Reno, the biggest complaint from the public during the question/answer period is the BLM could not answer questions.

Hey Token, this is for you. Amazing what the film industry got away with in 1968. "Peter Sellers is a disaster-prone actor from India who is at first thrown off the set by the producer of a film then invited to his posh Hollywood party."

At 80,000 people it is a 3,900 acre pentagon for BRC perimeter (Alternative A) 4,000 acres is 6.25 square miles.
At 50,000 people it is 3,410 acres (Alternative B)
It's big. Tell her to get a trike.

Re: Virgin Burner Couple Looking for an RV to share
Hello! you don't say where you are coming from, but my advice to first timers is to keep it simple! Rent a cargo van, get an inflatable bed, camp gear and check it out. RVing is nice, but a lot of work to clean after the event. As far as sharing, that's a whole bunch of potential drama. Basic: shade...

I will try to answer your questions, but sounds like you should do some research on your own. The Vehicle Pass is the only cost for your truck and trailer. Yes the trailer can and should stay attached to the truck. Unless you are in a theme camp, you just park in general camping and say hello to you...

Re: 10 Yr Environmental Impact Statement (Includes Relating to Culture)
After reading some of the EIS and attending the town hall BLM meeting in Reno last Monday, it appears what the BLM wants is to 'limit the impact on the playa' With alternative plan B the population cap would be 50K and most of the crazy mitigations go away. The culture is a different story. The cap ...
