<So are you advocating "playa justice" right off the bat by squirting cameras with water guns? So what if that camera cost $2K with lenses and all, you have no problem ruining it just to get a point across?> While I agree with you that playa justice should not be the first option (and, mind you, I d...

Re: Critical Mass
<And it is actually insulting to men to expect that they cannot change it. And it especially insults the men who don't hoot.> Look, if a guy wants to organize something to help CT out, I'm for it. I just don't think we females should have to rely on all the big, strong men for assistance. CT is abou...

Critical Mass
So, I was not on the playa this year, but the past years I've attended have all been like this- womyn love the event for what it stands for, but don't want to end up stumbling across their naked breasts on the Internet or in a "Girls Gone Wild: Burning Man" video someday. What to do? I personally fe...

Pee Funnel Camp
Now that was a good idea gone wrong. No offense to anyone who camped there, but their funnels leaked. And, yes, I did position it correctly (I know someone is going to comment brattily that you have to hold the top of the tube vertically. I DID! IT STILL LEAKED!)

great minds think alike
How funny! I made a coat with those very same glow-in-the-dark stars for last year's Burn. Of course, I was glueing them onto a black PVC jacket, so super glue worked tres excellent for me. If you are trying to affix to material, perhaps that clear fishing wire-type thread and sew an X around the po...

Ooh- champagne! What a playa treat that would be. Have to be icy cold, though. <ponders a cooler full of White Star> I did a bunch of research on boxed wines before the Burn last year and the Black Box merlot was highly recommended. I know, merlot! Never did end up cracking it open, though, and it c...

Oh, yeah, I remembered another kick-ass costume... the traveling shower guy!! He he had a mini-pool that you stepped into and then he worked his shower contraption (on his shoulders/head) and you got a refreshing little dousing. Sweet! That morning was one of my best walkabouts... bloody mary at Our...

Yay Team!
**applauds captainerotica** Well said, my friend. I think the party was much better this year than last. I am not sure I saw the Service Stations, although a very polite young man did offer me and my and girlfriends massages, which he performed in a perfectly non-lecherous and respectful manner. We ...

Oakenfold?
I'm fairly sure it was only a joke (Paris Hilton at BM? Puleeze...) but did Oakenfold really spin on the playa? Haters can save their rants, but I will be disappointed if I missed out on his set due to a lack of location in the guide.

OMG, I saw the EL organ couple, too, and that was freakin' fantastic. In all honesty, though, I was pretty damn pleased with my full-length faux zebra coat made for me by a new friend off e-playa and complete with matching pants I bought off ebay that fit me perfectly. A little EL wire to light me u...

The CT parade was one of my best memories from Burning Man '03. Yeah, there were the yahoos shouting stupid stuff and oogling and such, but whatever. More importantly were the great guys in the crowd- the guy who threw a burgandy boa-scarf around my neck as I rode by... the guy who gave me a bite of...

Cloud costume
I am creating an outfit made entirely (OK, I lied, there is a base layer) of cotton balls. It will be my cloud costume. I was inspired last year by people who made outfits out of cheap bulk items and viola! Inspiration struck. Of course, by the end of the week, the costume will be playafied, but suc...

Bravo!!
I think your dog camp idea is great. I have a desert dog as well (basenji) and he would do fine in the heat... no problem with loud noises or costumed people... and basenjis don't bark. The playa would admittedly be hard on his paws, but I am sure that a flooring could be created for the dogs to be ...

Shade structure over a VW van?
Great Googly Moogly, Burning Man is fast approaching and I am so not ready! Last year we were cruelly awoken every sunrise by the heat and so this year I want to make a shade structure that can go over our VW Vanagon. I know there're lots of you VW folks out there, so who can help me out with some d...

The problem I've found is that if you sew EL wire on clothing, you can't wash it. In my mind, that's a lot of effort for a one-time use item. A better way to work it is to sew tabs onto the clothing every few inches and then thread the EL wire through the tabs. Then you can easily pull the wire out ...

I prostrate myself to all who SEW
Hi folks, Last year I was green with envy over those magnificent individuals who are talented enough in the art of sewing to create full-length faux fur coats... you know, usually in some funky neon leopard print fabric? I crave such a coat! I'm one of those people who is always cold and it just isn...

Uggs are the best thing you can wear on playa when the sun goes down! Give your tootsies a quick wipe-down, slather on the lotion, then put your bare foot into the comfy goodness that is Ugg. If you buy the color sand, as I did, the playa dust will match the boot exactly and you'll come home with th...

TimberNala-- that sounds fan-freaking-tastic! I will definately be looking for you in 2004. One idea for you... I brought Biore facial cloths to Burning Man and they truly are the bomb. They are just single-use cloths, like baby wipes, but they do not leave behind any nasty residue. Just make your f...

Burning Man Virgin shirt needs new owner
After 3 years of trying each summer, in 2003 I was finally actually able to attend Burning Man. It was pretty much exactly what I expected, after reading everything I could find and talking to everyone I knew about their experiences... which is to say, I had an awesome time! In fact, I'm already cou...
