Re: Electric LED Surfboards?

The new rules are the result of an extensive process that intended to be explicit in what personal vehicles are allowed and not. Electric skateboards are banned, and not in the way they were last year. At least as far as I understand it from my convo w dmv. I do think it was a mistake to leave them ...

Re: Reasonable Honoraria Funding Request Vs. Total Budget

Thought I'd post a minor update-- The Listener project is proceeding well. It is A LOT of work to do art for this. Our project scope is not small--but it doesn't even reach medium size for out there. I'm planning to post fundraising info in about 10 days, but if you're curious here are some photos f...

Re: Electric LED Surfboards?

Sparr, Thank you for clarifiying that. I don't care what reddit does or doesn't do. I don't go there. I do care about misinformation. The Reddit page you posted isn't factual. Unless you have contacted BM and have more info than those 2 links, there is nothing there to substantiate banning them. Wh...

Re: Main Sale Ticket Success?!

We'll see how the next few days play out, I suppose...if indeed some (for lack of a better term) 'grey area' sales that managed to process, I wonder if the BMorg would really invalidate those tickets. Those people didn't game the system at all--including myself--so I hope people don't get punished ...

Check out this account : I was working at noon, and had pretty much figured that by the time i was on lunch there would be no possible way to get a ticket, 1:30 rolls around, eat my lunch, decided to see if tickets are sold out or not, i go to my profile page, log in, tap the lost my link button, go...

Re: Main Sale Ticket Success?!

It’s the same nonsense with tickets every year when those who know “the secrets” get tickets. Secrets such as don’t use the email link, clear your browser cache, login from the user profile, don’t stay in line for 2 hours with the message that your place in line is being kept. Why not doing somethi...

But it's the burn, right?
Some parts of the burn are handled very professionally. However, I think information technology is not taken seriously enough.

From online resources to ticketing, it is unclear to me how why crucial parts of the event have lagged behind for years.

Re: Main Sale Ticket Success?!

I'm amazed at how poorly this system functioned. Directed Group Sale went perfectly. While I wasn't trying for tickets this year because of DGS, I was monitoring others efforts including 7 friends trying. It looks like the worst experience of the past four main sales I participated in. For the ticke...

Re: Reasonable Honoraria Funding Request Vs. Total Budget

I'm pleased to share that someone who reads these boards has come forward as our patron and covered almost the entire amount that I requested from the Honoraia. I've now applied for placement and am working with the team I assembled to make this happen. There is a lot to do including fundrai...

Re: Reasonable Honoraria Funding Request Vs. Total Budget

Wanted to follow up that my project was not selected for Honoraria. I was bummed at first but have since come to appreciate the competitiveness of the selection. Re: Reasonable Honoraria Funding Request Vs. Total Budget

Okay. I substantially scaled down my previous design, and am building in a fair amount of buffer. I'm tempted to ask for more than half though, as the overall cost is not that high and I think still a solid impact.

Reasonable Honoraria Funding Request Vs. Total Budget

I am looking for guidance on how much of funding to request in my art Honoraria request versus the total budget of the piece. For example, if your budget is $5000, would it be appropriate to ask for up to 80% of that cost to be covered by the grant? If not, what kind of range would be seen as reason...

I echo the heart in right place comment and also any thinking about the burn in off season I think leads to better burns. That said, Portland, Oregon drained a 38 million gallon reservoir a few years ago because one guy peed in it. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2014/apr/17/portland-flush-38m-gal...

Re: What’s the best way to hang/suspend things inside a yurt?

Thanks for all the additional detail about your decision to go. There is a lot of derision of turnkeys and neo-drainbows at the burn. But at least anecdotally your particular story says the burn is still not only approachable but winnable when capable people truly self-select in. That’s cool you did...

Thanks for the additional details. What kind of bed frame did you use where you were able to put storage under it? That sounds really good.
