Thanks all. I didn't think there was a good way to manage the glass without investing a lot of resources, but i like the alternative ideas.
Rest assured, no glass will be purposely smashed on the playa.

MOOP Management - glass
For 2015 my camp is planning on an interactive piece that involves mirrors and smashing said mirrors. The biggest obstacle I see to realizing this interactive piece is managing the shards of glass that could make their way onto the playa. So far my only ideas are to place tarps down about 10 feet ar...

Re: Exodus 2014 - how long did it take you?
Left around 6:30 on Monday morning. Only traffic snag was a guy on a moped who couldn't go more than about 45 on the highway back to Fernley, but I got a good laugh out how stoked he looked as he drove along.

Re: Plug n plays running amuk
I wouldn't rush to say that Burning Man is falling victim to Plug n' Play jerkoffs. Sure there seem to be quite a few, but (speaking from my own perspective) a part of it is the influx of international Burners who don't have the ability to build their burn and transport it here. With any luck the as...

Re: Welcome back to default. Share with us burn stories!!
Skippy I saw the same thing happen. There was a loud cheer outside and we all ran into the road to see a tarp being carried up and away by a dust devil. Best moment by far was a friend receiving a pizza from her future self. Two ladies walked into camp with a red pizza delivery bag and ask my friend...

Found this beauty on Craigslist from a retired bike enthusiast whose hobby is to rebuild older bikers into original or better than original condition.

Last night: Glued EL Wire to a hat for the night time.
Today: Went to Home Depot to pick up rebar and parts for a bike basket...and some unplanned for costuming at the thrift store.

Re: Bad Advice for Virgin Burners
Dust storms are a playa myth that vets use to scare away newbies. Dust masks only make you look lame and make your face sweaty; same with goggles. Fuck that, you came here to look good, right?

Vets, what insight did you gain after your first burn?
I'm seeing many first-time burners post here and think it's great that a resource like the eplaya exists (wish I had known about it last year!) This is my second year and I'm going in with a lot more insight and preparation than year one. I thought it would be useful for veteran burners to recall wh...

Re: Goggles - What do YOU use?
Different people in my group have used old ski goggles, motorcycle goggles, and even safety goggles. It just comes down to making sure your eyes are protected in a sandstorm.
