Re: CoVid-19 and The 2020 Burning Man Event
geez I don't fucking know why does anyone ever help anyone ever or do anything worthwhile??? The argument that we need money to motivate people to help each other out is pretty fucking thin right now as people are literally dying by the thousands because a profit-motivated system is an egregious fu...

You can apply any terms to any situation. I see your point. Looked like a nice little community. People are legislated and zoned into homelessness.

Re: Error 522, kicked out of ticket purchase
Yeah, I was sitting there watching the arrows go around from 12:00, thinking,"OH,boy!,I'm in the queue", until it kicked me out to error 522 about 10 minutes later. The rest of the afternoon was the clusterfuck that was the 2019 Main Sale of blank screens, accusations of cutting in line, and brief g...

The White Wall of Death!
I'm usually disappointed on Main Sale Day. This year I got some solace by being pissed off instead.

It let me put a ticket and a parking pass in a cart about 5 minutes ago, and it asked for an access code. I don't know any code.

Sometimes I hear voices and they have long discussions with me. And then I realize; Hey, wait a minute, there's only one person here. It's kind of fun.

That pipe that was $10.40 at HD? I happened to look and it was made in USA. Feel a little better about paying that price now.

Yep, went to HD yesterday and 1" EMT was $10.40 a stick, 50 cent increase since June. Got the discount price of $9.89 because I bought(10 or more) 13 pieces. Maybe when we start making our own (USA) because of the tariffs it will go back down to around 5 bucks. Yeah, right.

Re: Omg access code?
I got all the way to buy now and when I would click "buy now" the counters would reset to zero. The people who got tickets thought Eventbrite worked very well. I was resigned to not going this year. A lot of work and a lot of money involved. I can buy a $1200 dollar ticket if I change my mind while ...

Re: $1200 tickets available as of this morning
I got a $1200 ticket last year. I felt a little bit bad because I was traveling during mainsale registration and missed it. One night I was drinking and bought a $1200 ticket. So I went. I'm 63 and retired. I have a sweet pension and a nestegg. Didn't regret going. I was standing in line for food an...

Re: Conduit. Let's come to a decision.
I bumped this because I went to HD today and the 1" EMT is up to $9.90 a stick. I want to do some structures around the house. I wondered what the price was in different years. I googled "historical prices of EMT" and this was about the fifth thing there. I wonder if those tariffs figure into it. I'...

Re: Compact Drill vs. Impact Driver for Lag Screws
I have a 1/2" Ryobi impact driver/wrench. With the large batteries it's a great tool...It blows 14" lags into the playa with authority. I loaned it to other camps at the last burn. I had to stop because I hadn't brought the charger...They had 2 of the big Ryobi batteries at HD for 99$ last I looked...

Re: USPS Discontinues Mail Delivery to the Playa
I worked for USPS 37 years. I have PTSD from it. I enjoyed going to BRCPO and trolling them. FTPO.
I was in the Maintenance Liberation Army. We would paint MLA on a file cabinet there for laughs and managers would shit their pants.
Nevertheless I lament the demise of BRCPO.

Re: Are Burners: Dog People or Cat People or Other?
I like both. Dogs are good people who need constant maintenance. Cats are beautiful women, who are low maintenance, who give me their time when they're in the mood. I own neither but live in the country and have neighbor dogs that come over to hang out, either because they like me or I keep treats i...

Re: Generator rental and delivery
This was my second burn. I live in California's Central Valley where it is 99 or 100 degrees almost every day in the summer. The heat at Burning Man 2017 just felt normal to me. This year, unlike last year, I had a generator and a small trailer with AC. I ran the AC two times. Both times I sat or la...

Re: Condition of Gate Road by Exodus
I saw bikes in the road during Exodus. The drivers probably didn't even realize they'd been shaken off. They probably got a ways down the road and realized,"HEY! Our fuckin' bikes are gone!". Like they're really going to go back to look for them. I call that some very forgivable MOOP. I was pulling ...

Re: Compact Drill vs. Impact Driver for Lag Screws
I do. Use when I change tires. I feel like "nascar". I should keep the cordless in the car for that reason. Caught without it a few weeks ago when I had a flat. I live on an acre of hard pan. I do shade structures. I'm building a bridge over a creek that only has water 5-6 months of the year. I lagg...

You might find it interesting that when I was in high school my older brother came back from Vietnam. I told him, "In a few years I'll be joining the army". "How can you join the army after I break both your legs?', he asked me. "So, you don't recommend it?", I replied.

Re: How to find people you met at BM this year?
It's not really a business card. More like what they used to call a "calling card". No business is promoted. It's for if I meet someone I wouldn't mind being in contact with. It's simply names and an email address. The only thing it promotes is friendship.

It is like nothing else. I only have two Burns on my resume. But as Eric says,"It's just a camping trip in the desert". I think you're going to like it. I envy your military career. Two things I never did in my life, have a child or serve. I don't exactly regret it, but I missed a hell of an experie...
