Do what they did in the old west, find a cook without a camp and recruit him. Trust me, those of us who can make culinary magic from nothing in the playa go everywhere. 8)

If you make space for incorporated organizations like PETA, then you make the same space for the KKK to promote white supremacy, or the Republican Party to campaign against gay turban-wearing abortion doctors from Mexico. As much as I loathe the haters, the KKK and the Republican party fascists hav...

:) Fair enough, what was creeping us out was watching a BLM Ranger in our camp go for his gun on an non-confrontational posession bust and blurting out it was "our playa, we're in charge here." The new mix does explain a few things. Thank You...and yes we have far more positive experiences with the ...

In fact, most people of any denomination that are willing to come to BRC seem to be on the lighter side of their beliefs. That's what I like about it. True, I had a great time talking to some of the Muslim burners about their beliefs vis a vis Burning Man. You can't be a strict Muslim and come to B...

BR, a lot of us really value our relationship with LE, especially in keeping the dealers off the Playa. The no commerce rule goes for everybody as far as I'm concerned. Can you please comment on whether the LEO's value the relationship as well and have noticed that certain individuals in the BLM rea...

If only everyone could leave the drugs at home for one year. Let them try to justify their insane expenditure of resources then! I know, after two busts in our camp we were descended upon by clean cut tourist looking types with cameras, which was very odd for opening day and wasn't repeated through...

Hee, maybe we should just say that only thumpa-thumpa dance camps and crowd pleasers like the hellevator should be on esplanade. That would work just fine for me, I could avoid the tourists by just staying off the main street and have one convenient street to hit when I do feel like dancing. You kno...

I'm a senior burner. Sex is great, but I'm in a committed relationship and go each year without my partner with the expectation to remain faithful and always do (despite some rather alluring temptations set before me). So, don't worry that you won't fit in if you're celibate at BM. Anyone who tells ...

I'll put the proviso up front that I am religious, but not a Hare Krishna. For some of us, there's definitely a spiritual aspect to the Burn. The city is like a huge Mandala, a thing of beauty comprised of precious jewels, manifested as each burner. A city created, admired for its beauty, and destro...

This Year...

Well, last year I praised the BLM Ranger's tolerance and professionalism. In 2006, I'm not so happy. Citing people for posession at Burning Man must be like shooting fish in a barrel for the LEO's, the BLM Rangers don't need to be assholes about it. I saw a bust on a 70ish freak where a BLM Ranger u...

That burning ring of life...

Our friends had two engagements at BM, and a returning now married engaged couple from previous years, and one BM conception now old enough to join as part of our camp. Love is grand and all, but now I'm wondering how long its going to be before someone wants to get cremated when the man burns.

Did you like more unreserved space close to the Esplanade held back till Monday midnight? What about the 4:30 and 8:30 zone reaching Theme Camps deep into the body of BRC?. That was good for me, the virtue of that was that is that was a little more community between us veteran burners (who usually ...

In a nutshell, it doesn't matter how much time, money and effort you put into your sound camp. If it's not in the "loud" zone and it's over 300 watts, you have to turn it down. For others of us, it really isn't that we mind a misplaced sound camp most of the time. It's that these misplaced sound ca...
