Re: dry ice
My dry ice sublimated way faster than normal this year. 200 lbs was gone in 4-5 days. Most years less dry ice lasts longer. Even 2017 didn't kill it this fast. I'm a little curious as to what the difference was.

Re: Entry/Exodus much smoother this year?
Thursday afternoon build week, 3-4 hours despite a very short physical line. Heard after the fact that Gayte decided to have a 2 hour supervisor meeting on active shooter protocols during that time, leaving them short-staffed. Sunday 7 pm Exodus, not bad until Gerlach. Gerlach to Empire was stop and...

Fixing A Springer Front End
Bike gurus: I bought a tricycle with a springer front end cheap on Craigslist, and in trying to tune it up, the main springer bolt (what I would think of as the kingpin on a skateboard - the bolt going through the spring to the collar) sheared. Assuming I can get the remaining rusted bit out of the ...

Re: Sleeping in a Cargo Van.
How much does it cost to rent something. You can buy a cheap tent and seal up the mesh parts. With the new-found money you save on NOT renting a u-haul van you can buy a canvas sail from REI or some other upscale retailer. they are easy to set up and work great out there. Attach one corner to your ...

Re: Wedding "Officiant" Needed
I've performed several playa weddings and have a decree notarized by the Black Rock City Notary authorizing me to officiate them. I also have my own suit and megaphone. Happy to schedule a sunset vow session or just stop by Various Delights, somewhere around 3:30/I, for the "city hall" approach.

Re: Sleeping in a Cargo Van.
Yeah, done it twice, totally worth it. The inside is surprisingly cavernous....to a fault. I literally lost things the first time because by end of week its an archeological expedition to find anything. 2nd time I strung some lines across the roof supports to hang things and brought cheap shelves t...

Re: Sleeping in a Cargo Van.
I do this every year. The van under the carport is more comfortable than the tent. If the van is completely inside the carport, leave the doors unlocked and leave the key in the drivers' side door for the week. It will be hidden by the carport walls and make it impossible to lock the key inside. Or ...

2x3s strong enough to build shade structures?
I need to build a small add-on "porch" to my carports and am debating EMT vs wood. Is building an 8x8x8' simple structure, or maybe a 16x8x8, out of 2x3s with a tarp on top and no sides, lag bolted with ratchet strap tiedowns, going to have any potential for an engineering fail? (I do understand the...

I've found the best way to protect my car on the playa is to leave it in my driveway and rent a cargo van to go to BRC.

Re: 2 person camp - sufficient cool area?
I sleep in a cargo van under a shade structure. Build a FIGJAM bucket cooler and stick it in the front seat and you'll be a lot more comfortable than in just the cargo van. Extra blankets if it gets into the 30s like last year.

A get your vehicle ready cautionary tale: My radiator just exploded. Fortunately, it was within two miles of my house. Presale Tickets - How Difficult?
I'm planning on buying presale tickets this year to support the low-income program and hopefully avoid the individual sale --> fail --> Craigslist search. How impacted are presale tickets? Do I have to click the link at 11:59:59.872 exactly to account for my 128ms of ping to the Ticketfly server so ...
