Can any Southern Bay Area burners lend me a drill?
Hi everyone, I'm making a Figjam swamp cooler and need a drill to make the holes on the exterior of the bucket as well as the lid. I have a hack saw which has been unsuccessful in making the 2in holes and don't know what to do at this point since I don't have many tools. Would anyone mind letting me...

Thank you eldergeekaz and figjam! I was under the impression all three red and black wires couldn't be tied together which is why I was confused. thank you both

Re: cooling your tent or van
Hey everyone, would someone have pictures of the splicing? I'm really confused and maybe overthinking it but I want to make sure I build this correctly and avoid blowing anything out. I understand that the fan and pump are spliced together but how do you splice that connection to the wire extension ...

Re: At what time does it start getting cold at night?
To add onto the comments on how to stay warm when temps do drop, I put small heat packs inside my socks (sat on my ankles) to keep my feet warm while out on the playa and gloves. Gloves were key for helping me stay warm last year especially when the wind was really blowing around midnight. It was my...

RUEBEAR! I really wish I could go. Abba Zabba would kill me if she knew I missed a chance to see you guys. (Ruebear and Tourist camped near us last year and they are a pleasure.) I've been to American Steel and it's not too sketchy a neighborhood. If you're worried just bring an empty catfood can a...

Playa Arts Sneak Peak Question
Hello everyone! My husband and I have finally relocated to the Bay Area and we're so excited to become more involved in the burner community. We're planning on attending the Playa Arts Sneak Peak event tonight in Oakland but we're very unfamiliar with the entire Bay Area. Someone mentioned not to li...

Re: This Tent Mahal good for anything?
Your tent looks fine. The mesh would need to be covered (or not - whatever floats your boat) when the wind picks up. I had a small triangle mesh opening at the top of my tent which I covered once the white outs started (asthma flared up). I safety pinned a blanket to the inside and outside of the me...

Re: Playa Conditions for 2015
I'm confused... they aren't mosquitos but instead stink bugs? And they fly? Does anyone know what exactly these are? I'd like to know research them to find out if they bite because I highly doubt your average bug repellant will work? If they just fly around then whatever, that's doable.

Re: Trassssssh
Thank you everyone!! Since my tent is very small, there's barely enough room for myself and my other belongings. I also figured bacteria would start to grow in the trash bags especially due to the heat so I wanted to avoid having that directly in my face when sleeping in my tent. Everyone's answers ...

Hey everyone! the clock is finally ticking however I can't seem to find the answer to my question. What do you use to hold your trash in? I'll explain my situation first, I'll be attending alone and camping with the wonderful and sweet Ratty, however, I don't know where to put my trash WHILE I'm the...

Re: Biking into the dust. General Bike info for the Playa.
more pro-tips: you want a bike with a kickstand so you can park it easily. Put a tennis ball or something rubbery on the end of the kickstand so it doesn't sink into the playa dust. Let some air out of the tires if you are coming from low elevation. Lube it up real good on Day 1, esp the chain. Als...

Anyone from Santa Barbara or San Luis Obispo??
I'm not eve sure where this post should go but I would love to meet other burners in Santa Barbara or San Luis Obispo. Are you out there?! If so, I'd love to meet you! I also noticed that San Luis Obsipo has their own regional page but I haven't gotten a response back from their admin and it says th...

Re: Burning Alone
As CG has pointed out that burners can solo, it is not mandatory to join a camp. And although I suggest costumes, I mean at least throw a creative hat or jewelry into your clothing mix (take a look at camp group photos for a range of BM attire). In the same way, you don't have to drink at bars to h...

Thank you Ratty! You're so sweet and fingers crossed, he'll get a ticket. and everyone, have a little faith. :) I know, I'm young but I wouldn't jeopardize my marriage for some short lived fling (I'm sure people have said that before and not followed through). But really, loyal women still exist. Bu...

Hola from the Central Coast of CA
Hello everyone and it's very nice to meet everyone. My husband and I live on the central coast of CA, where we have one continuous season year long ( I really can't complain). We're both virgin burners and are looking forward to seeing all your beautiful faces this year even though we weren't able t...
