Re: Segways in Burning Man

Elderberry and Lucky:
Yes they are self balancing and it’s awesome. Mastering getting on and off of them I think is the toughest part. You still have to watch out for playa puddles and be aware of how fast you are going. If you want to try mine out this year PM me and we can set up a time to meet up.

Re: Segways in Burning Man

Vic, Have your panties been in a bunch for 2 years. That's how old this thread is. I doubt if anyone is 'hating on you'. In fact they probably haven't given you a thought. Mellow out. Don’t worry Ratty my underwear isn’t having any issues. I said hating on it (ie segways) not me. And I’m commenting...

Re: Segways in Burning Man

As someone with horrible balance I am way more comfortable stepping onto a self balancing segway mini then I am trying to ride a bike. People can hate on it all they'd like but having one it makes me way less stressed. I can also set a speed limit on it and the newest model has a small enough batter...

Re: Electric bike build

I'm building an electric assist trike as well this year. I am NOT however doing as much DIY as you are. Looking at either scavenging a electric bike hub motor or buying directly from someone like Luna cycles.
I'll ask my partner if he knows anything about how you'd rig what you have on hand up.

Re: Carry everything for the week on the Burner Express Bus?

Hi Ivictory23 and welcome. Your attitude is great and you have the start of a great camp. But please know that, as pictured, your shade will not last a day at Burning Man. You have a good start with materials and the shade cloth will decrease wind load but the uprights will not hold. Suggest you st...

Re: Carry everything for the week on the Burner Express Bus?

I just bought a Burner Express Plus event ticket, so I'll be trying this out this year. I disagree with the earlier comment that people aren't supposed to attend in this manner. This is backpacking camping compared with car camping. I am totally excited about the challenges and I'm just starting to...

Re: What happens when your playabike craps out on the playa?

At the very least bring a few tubes, a few master chain links and a bike pump. There are small kits you can get that have basic bike tools and make replacing tube easier. Try it out at home.

Re: I need an adult: A screwed up Monkey hut story.

The pic looks a little wider, it's pretty snug that way. It would rub against the tent the other direction..eep! After what you said about the extensions snapping (I made a few from 2ft extensions, glued them with PVC glue before I saw your message), I'll save the modifications for another year. I'...

Re: Adult Trikes vs reg Bikes

If you have a couple brain cells to rub together and use a lock, all bikes and trikes are pretty safe from theft. If not, they're all pretty easy for someone to make off with. That said, I'm a HUGE fan of the trike. If you're up for the investment (they cost more than bikes), they're absolutely wor...

Re: Hoop tape to decorate your bike?

I'm going to give it a shot. I'll make sure to post before and after pictures as well as how it fairs on the playa. :)
And yes, I'll still have lights all over it.

Hoop tape to decorate your bike?

So I searched the forum and googled as well and I couldn't find any discussions over using hoop tape to decorate your bike. Has anyone tried it?
