Re: Goggles - What do YOU use?

One big discovery I made this year is having a pair of clear lens goggles for night. After 10 years, it was like a "duh" moment, of course! Dust happens at night too, and most ski-type goggles are too dark to see though. It was awesome!

Re: Bad Behaviour on the Playa

This was my 10th burn and I have to say I saw the most moop, mostly beer cans, in the port-a-potties. I was camped at near the large sound camps on the 2:00 side, where you might expect to see it, but it really was found in almost every loo I visited across the playa. This is the worst kind of assho...

Re: BLM Permit: What Does This Mean For Tickets?

I just hope some dust-hell videos surface from this coming year's BM. Visibility at 3ft, storms at 90mph, sparkleponies not so sparkley, maybe even a few deaths... The event last year was the perfect storm of not having any storms. i kept telling newbies, to no avail, that the fun they were having ...

Re: The Pier 2

The Pier 2011 was one of the most pleasing playa installations I have experienced as an 8-year + burner. It was perfect in scale and just stuck the right note. The impact may have been lost on people who came to Burning Man for the first time, because it fit so well and was so perfect in execution, ...

Re: Clumsy ‘solution’ to non existent problem?

Instead of having 8,000 tickets at the $210 level, then 8,000 tickets at the $240 level, then 8,000 tickets at the $280 level, combine them all into one $260 bracket with 25,000 tickets. The ORG will still get their start up capital in February, and the hype of opening day sales will be mitigated T...

Lost Bike: "superstar" orange/goldish german foldi

Please help anyone who may have seen this bike, as it is dear to my wife and I. It is an older 70's type small folding bike that is orangish in color and had a small rack on back. It also has a front light that works from the tire spinning (although it stopped working properly) It also has small but...

Re: Looking to bring sound from NY to the playa

Also would be nice to meet more burners in the new york city area if you're out there. D Are you new to the area? You must be, or aren't looking very hard. There are about a bazillion NYC burners that don't hide themselves at all. The easiest way is to contact your regional representitive thru burn...

Not "one-Time-Only" for some, but for my wife Lacey and I it was pure a Burning Man experience. So to say there's no impact from the event? Bullshit. The plume counts. As for the playa serpents they are out there and I feel it's time to get a scientific explanation as to their origin. You can always create one. Thats the thing, there are, I think three different "Photos 2005" discussions in different groups at the moment. I think it really needs to be a main topic within "2005 Burning Man Event" We have: "2005 Tickets" "2005 Theme" "Art & Performance" "Theme Camps" Add: "Aftergl...

I think the bigger question is why isnt there a thread within the "2005 Event" section (or 2006, 2007 ect.) for people to post thoughts, reactions, photos? Everyone runs home after the event and wants to share and discuss, but all these posts are scattered among the various other threads. Like if yo...

I stand corrected. According to the official timeline,The population went down in 1991, the first year it moved to the Black Rock Desert. In 2001 it only grew by a few hundred.

2004 was 35,664, so if 35,567 is correct only a 94 person difference.

Down from last year

Wow, thanks for the quick responce. If that # is correct, this will be the first year to decline in population. A trend or just reaching its critical mass? I think that this is a good # to stabalize at, any bigger might be too much. Anyone who has gone to any of the Phish festivals, they were around...

Are they dealing with the water responsibly?

If they are, than fine, it is a service to those that want to use it, and It doesn't seem like they are hiding the fact that you will be watched.

sounds ok to me (as long as they aren't leaving a huge puddle)

Leave the SLR at home! Get a really good, but cheap, pocket size camera like the new nikon 7900. Its small, 7.1 mp (more than fine) and you will use it more cause it will be in your pocket. It also has an optional waterproof case if you want to go all the way. I used a nikon coolpix 880 (3.2 mp) for...
