Re: Bringing a pet's ashes to be burned in the Temple or other large structure

I thought I'd bring her in a small, cardboard box with no tape or other forms of plastics, resins, or glues on it other than what's in the cardboard. She was the love of my life besides my husband. Once in a lifetime. I have other cats but they broke the mold with her. Because i suck and can't get h...

Bringing a pet's ashes to be burned in the Temple or other large structure

Like, how do I go about this? Do I just show up with my burnable box of Keiko-kitty and go at it or do I need permission from BMORG or something?

If this is in the inappropriate spot, please move it to wherever it is relevant.

Thanks for any help!

Re: It's... the 2016 OMG Sale Thread!

My understanding is that when the database error had occurred, there were already many many more people who had clicked and entered the sale than there were tickets or vehicle passes to be purchased. If you believe there was some other technical glitch at play, please send an email to ticketsupport...

Re: It's... the 2016 OMG Sale Thread!

I've confirmed that while there was a hiccup at the strike of twelve, it happened after the initial authentication and placement in the queue. Place in queue was not lost, so once the issue was resolved it distributed to the people who were going to get them before the server got the hiccups. Yes, ...

Re: Argh! Burner Profiles kicked me out!

Yeah, I didn't get a unique access code either. I've often wondered if tickets are directed at folks who have the best looking profile or who have more volunteer work listed. Maybe I just didn't use the right buzzwords. Oh well, I guess I'll try again next year. I doubt I can get tickets via the aft...

Happening to me too. I was booted from Profiles promptly at noon and it won't even load the page for me now. Guess I'm not getting tickets this year.

I was ready and waiting and got kicked out promptly at noon. Now it won't let me back in. I guess I won't be getting tickets this year. Wah!

I'm going to play pokemon on the Playa ironically. It will be my performance art. Cool! Are you going to include walking into street signs? How about walking into the side of an RV? Or other art structure? Do the MV vehicles needs a cow catcher attached this year? :D Ha! Love it!!! I especially lik...

The suspense is killing me!

We still don't know if we're coming back to do traffic info so I don't know if I'm going to be able to come to TTITD again or if we're staying home. It makes me want to run around screaming and clutching my hair. I will have to weep, wail, gnash my teeth and get all melodramatic if we can't come thi...

So do I just show up with my cat's ashes in a box and place them wherever or is there someone I should go to for placement?

Re: Is this appropriate?

I'm glad you asked about this. I know my "loss" was just a cat but I've wondered who I should talk with about having my cat's ashes go up in either the Temple or the Man or anything there, really. She was like my own child so having her gone now is like having lost a chunk of my flesh. So....

Re: The Art of Gifting

I bring candy and Otter Pops. I have an RV with a freezer so I've found a box of Otter Pops lasts me about a week. I sit outside under the shade and hand them out to people who look overly warm and thirsty. If they stick around to eat them, I even take the moop back (I figure I brought it, I should ...

Like, are any out there and if so, are any accepting new people? I'm a small-time costumer from the Seattle area who would love to get in with a bunch of fellow costume fanatics at the Burn. Anyone going to that? I just signed up for my first event there. I've camped at that site many many times as part of a medieval reenactment group but this will be my first regional there. It's a GORGEOUS site although plan on it raining. I think I've been there once in the past 10 years when it didn...

Re: Deadheads at BM...

You can try looking around for the Grateful Floyd camp. They're a mix of deadheads and floyd fans, currently leaning more toward floydism. I no longer have their contact info but I camped with them last year and it was a blast. They really made my burn happen.

I'm hoping Camp 511 will be somewhere in this area although I don't know exactly where. I'm hoping our camp is bigger this year, too. Half our members canceled due to the dust storms last year, the wimps.

I do have pads of the postcard-sized paper, btw. I also have watercolor crayons, pencils, and a portable set of paint.

My real question is, would clothing count as art?

Re: Size Matters (Smaller Scale Art!)

Does small art include articles of clothing to be worn or would that merely be a costume? I like to create fairly elaborate clothing and walk around in it just for shits and giggles (and stares because why else do we dress up or dress down there?). Just wondering if by creating small art, we mean sc...

Re: Can fast Internet from new satellites come to Burning Ma

We have had several technical discussions of Internet connectivity to the event. As far as anyone has been able to determine Gerlach's only connectivity is at the end of a microwave chain from Wadsworth. That chain is overloaded when the event turns on its channels along with the temporary cell sit...

Re: What's the single best thing you've worn on the playa?

I'd have to say the bra I wore this year. It had racing EL wire in two spirals on the cups so that they formed two hypnotic spirals. I call it my "hypno-bra". It was a pretty big hit. Beyond that, my favorite thing to wear would be clothes. :)

Re: Weird year.

Having an RV doesn't mean you won't get your share of dust inside. You are correct, however if you set it up right you can keep the dust out. I tape or otherwise seal every dust entry point, keep everything shut and run the A/C. Shoes come off at the door. In the event of a hull breach and dust ent...

Re: Weird year.

Having an RV doesn't mean you won't get your share of dust inside. I also don't recommend you fully give up on the potties as you may find the holding tanks on your RV don't last as long as you may want them to. Still, I'm pretty sure I don't want to come to Burning Man in a tent. I like the ability...

This will not happen unless the BLM can find a way to give fines to the porto pumping companies for having illegal substances in the shit pyramids. With no citizens to hit up, I don't think there will be any testing. Maybe they can get their K-9 dogs to sniff shit when people come out. 8) Don't giv...

Re: What items do you carry when walking the Playa?

I always carry goggles, dust masks (plural because you just never know), scarf, hat, a little TP or tissue, lip balm, sunscreen during the day, a cup, and some water. It just seems sensible to do that now having gotten caught out last year without some of those items and finding my day harshed a bit...

Re: So, how dusty was it?

Cleaning the framework for our shade yesterday and was having dust come out of the insides of the poles and framework. They're ostensibly capped with plastic but apparently not dust proof. I've given up on getting the dust off the outside of the frame itself. That stuff is on like super glue. :)
