Re: Barbie Death Village Reno Hotel Deal 2019

Just wanted to say thanks for this. We had a major engine issue with our van on our drive into Burning Man on the 25th. Had to have it towed to Reno after the event. And although we had already planned on being there for a few days, our decompression was now under totally different circumstances. Ba...

Re: Need Deep Cycle/Inverter Recommendations

With the gennie, a deep cycle and an inverter or two, I really see no reason to add solar panels. The gennie can produce several times the energy produced by the solar panels in a fraction of the time and with greater reliability, covered in dust, rain or shine... Solar panels tend to be bulky, som...

Re: Need Deep Cycle/Inverter Recommendations

I run quite a few strings of leds, and all I use is one of those "80 watt" harbor freight inverters that plug into a cigarette lighter socket ($18 I believe). I have an inverter on my trailer, but it uses a lot more juice just to idle than the lights themselves require... I don't charge this batter...

Re: Need Deep Cycle/Inverter Recommendations

There are many more adept than me on this, but I had a similar set up this past year. If your lights are LED's, you can use the smallest inverter--maybe 100 watts. The battery should be good for a few days. Harbor Freight actually has decent inverters. I never had one fail one me. As a test at home...

Need Deep Cycle/Inverter Recommendations

Hello! I am hoping I can get some help with a basic deep cycle batter and inverter setup. I have done quite a bit of reading and research but for some reason I can't wrap my head around it. Last year I used a Honda EU2200i at times to run some fucking Christmas lights and it was ridiculous, a waste,...

Re: Water Storage/ Shower Situation

Large bin, towel in the bottom. Hudson sprayer, natural soap. Hang towel to air dry, post shower. Repeat until gross. I like this. But isn't the shower grey water kinda moopy? You know, with hairs and such? I'm no salamander, and the idea of hanging that towel up afterwards paints an ugly photo of ...

Re: Barbie Death Village Reno Hotel Deal 2019

This is awesome, and looks like a great deal, too! We were planning on spending a night in Reno but would have been paying about twice as much at a different hotel. So now we are planning on doing two nights of R&R in Reno after the Burn instead of just the one. As soon as we find out our schedule f...

Re: Small Theme Camp looking for a Village to join

Hate to be the negative Nancy here... More like the Rational Ricky, I'd say. This plan will absolutely, um, evolve out there once it's implemented. But that in itself seems kinda fun, kinda. Even if grows three heads and becomes a monster, you can still be like, " LOOK AT WHAT WE CREATED " and just...

Re: Trash Tips for Trashy People

The post-burn garbage collection scams are blowing my mind. You gotta be a real asshole.. We dropped off 3 bags ("unwieldy sacks of inconvenience", actually) of extra trash we volunteered to haul out before we realized we were already over-loaded. The spot had showers, too, which we donated $ for, a...

Trash Tips for Trashy People

Do not fill your bags completely. If you do, you'll end up with large, unwieldy sacks of inconvenience. Instead, fill them 3/4 or even 1/2 way, they'll be so much more manageable. Also: I used strong Husky Contractor bags and didn't regret them one bit. I brought 10, only need 3, and gifted the rest.

Found an old hand bell while going through some junk. Attached an extra carabiner to it and threw it into a box of Burning Man stuff. Easy, fun noisemaker for my bike!

Re: Basic MONKEY HUT Tutorial?

I had a GREAT experience building and using SilverGirl70's Modified Monkey Hut design. It's a little larger than your basic setup (as she designed it to fit over her large Kodiak tent), but it was very easy to build and set up.

Re: Comfortably camping

Coming to burning man as international is 1000 x harder No, it is not. I flew in from Hawaii, in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. I did it myself. I saved money, bought gear, and built a killer camp. Monkey hut, shade. Not only did I survive, but I THRIVED AND FUCKING INDULGED. I had electricity an...

Re: ELLIOT'S NAKED BICYCLE SERVICE

We were about a half block away from you folks. I didn't need bicycle service, but I did stop for an impromptu piano song played by a lovely lady. It was fantastic! She was great! When she finished, the group of us that had gathered behind her cheered and applauded, to which she turned around in tot...

Also taking it down isn't too bad because you just pull them out instead of having to go to each and every one of those bungees and disconnecting them and then gathering them up later, bundling them etc. badger, I just made a bunch of work aprons just for that job. Re: Preventing Bike Theft / Finding 'Lost' Bike Ideas

Aloha! Virgin Burner and future Religious Bike Locker here. I have a sort of "silly" question: When there is no bike rack to lock the bike to, is locking the wheels and frame good enough? Folks aren't walking off carrying locked bikes, are they? Just trying to get an idea of how things will be in th...
