Re: Getting playa dust out of clothes

I had a few of my white cotton T-shirts and most of my socks get stains. The socks were probably stained from the moisturizer, on my feet, mixing with the dust. Soaked them in a weak bleach solution for a couple of hours and washed them. Came out just fine. Washed the rest of the clothes, like norma...

The Good: Reconnecting after missing the last two years.

The Bad: 89% of the burgins I asked had no idea there were 10 principles. E-racers out of control, speeding through crowded streets. Darkwad percentage at an all time high.

The Ugly: The incident at Barbie Death Camp.

To the OP: Radical Inclusion does include race, moron. This is reaching a new low by trying to create an issue that does not exist.

Re: Bike Parts to Bring

Well, I consider this years bike prep a success! Only troubles I had were a bungee cord dropping into the rear hub causing the chain to pop off. Suffered two flats on Saturday (nail and machine screw), before the burn. I had brought two tubes. Luckily, no more flats after that. The dry lube I used o...

Re: Nitwits attack Barbie Death Camp BM 2019

The press loves to sensationalize things. If all art were allowed to be vandalized because someone did not like it, there would be no art, anywhere. Of course the press will not talk about that as it does not make as good of a headline. A precedent has been set. People were allowed to vandalize an i...

I talked to a couple of others who decided not to go due to the threat of rain and high winds that evening. I hated missing it.

Re: eplaya Meet & Greet 2019!

Visited Destiny 3D earlier in the week, but did not make it to the MnG due to weather reports concerning high winds and potential rain. We watched the rain come toward the event, then part and go South of it all. I really wanted to be there and meet everyone. I know Doc ventured out. I made the wron...

Re: Entry/Exodus much smoother this year?

We arrived around 4:00pm (local time), the Friday before the event started, and it took us about 4 to 5 hours to get through the gate. In our line, they were taking about 10 minutes to search all the vehicles. I heard that if you got there before 11:00am, there was no line at all. We left early Mond...

Re: Speeding in BRC on the playa?

I almost got run down by a e-bike this year. He was zooming in and out of the crowd at about 20mph, at night, with no lights on him or the bike.

The darkwad percentage was very high this year. Made it hard to enjoy seeing the sights, at night.

Yes, she has outfits for each of the 11 days we will be on the Playa. All of which she can mix and match to change the look, should she get the urge,.....and she will get the urge. I have zero imagination, when it comes to clothing. I'll be wearing the same thing, everyday. Not the same clothes. Dif...

Re: BRC shade from sun direction/elevation

Might want to post a map of the city and how it is oriented as well. It might be helpful for those arriving at night. I know I had to do that for 2016 (10:00pm during a white out) and I nailed the orientation of the RV.

Re: Bike Parts to Bring

For some reason I cannot quote you spacetime, but I am thinking that too little grease is not the way to go.

Dust is going to get into the crank hub, no matter what. I would think more grease would act as a barrier to penetration. Less grease would allow more penetration to the bearing surface.

Re: Afterburn bike care: Wiping + vinegar mist?

After the burn, I'll power wash the bikes, then strip them down, clean the grease out, make sure cups and bearing are still in good shape, put in fresh grease, check coaster brake for wear and replace what is needed there, and re-assemble. We ride them year round.

Re: Afterburn bike care: Wiping + vinegar mist?

For the RV, I put a polymer sealer on the outside before we left. Dust just floated right off with a mild rinse. Like Popeye, used a leaf blower to blow out the interior, then took some wax cloth I use for particle removal before painting a car and wiped everything down. The comment we got when we r...

Bringing a couple of old Huffy's we picked up this summer and I rebuilt. Switched them to a 36T chain ring, from the default 44T. Put some Schwalbe Fat Man tires on them. I took the wheels to a bike shop to have the spokes checked and wheels trued. Spare parts include, a chain, half a dozen master l...

Re: Afterburn bike care: Wiping + vinegar mist?

Pretty much described what I have done to our bikes to prep for the Playa. When reassembling, be sure to include some play in the bearings so the dust has a place to go. I used a moly grease and will see how well it does out there. Standard wheel bearing grease seems to dry out faster in the dust. I...
