damn. so sorry about your loss, and your treatment...
Wish I could say it was unexpected, but that would a topic for another discussion.

Re: Elon Musk & the Mission to Mars

Earth will die one day. There is nothing that can stop it. There are many reasons it could happen. One of them will happen. If we want human beings to continue to exist in this universe, we need to spread to other worlds. Now, if you do not care about that, then so be it. I am okay with the flame be...

Re: Is it over?

I don't know Captn. This will be a test of the BMORG's radical self-reliance. If they want to extend the length of time before cash runs out,. then relocate to a cheaper place to live and support. Talking the ORG itself. Even if the full time staff fails it all, I think there are enough volunteers t...

Re: How much water to bring

I carry a 12 ounce stainless steel thermos with me all the time (attached rubber top). Every third fill, I fill it with Gatorade (powdered stuff). Works for me.

I go through about a gallon and a half of water a day.

Once left unchecked, the asshole, in all of us, is free to roam and destroy. It is only through sheer willpower many keep it in check.

It is a good idea to cancel the event this year. I think we are all being optimistic thinking this pandemic is going to be over by June or July.

Re: First Timer - solo or camp option?

What you want or what you get out of it will all depend on the person you are to start with. Whether you chose a camp or going solo may or may not make any difference at all, again, depending on the person you are. If you decide to go with a camp, chose wisely. DO NOT DEPEND on a camp to provide you...

Re: The Car Thread

There is no way I would put her into a restored 62 Vette. Too dangerous. The shabby brakes (by today's standards) alone are cause enough for me to not do that.

I'll stuff a C5 underpinnings wrapped in a 62 Vette body. That will be much safer and more reliable than the original.

Bulletin boards are not a format the 'instant gratification' crowd will ever participate in. It is considered a format for 'old people'. Of course, there will always be exceptions, but the exceptions seem to be getting fewer and fewer, with each generation. That is more of a 'gut feel' with no real ...

Re: Getting playa dust out of clothes

I had a few of my white cotton T-shirts and most of my socks get stains. The socks were probably stained from the moisturizer, on my feet, mixing with the dust. Soaked them in a weak bleach solution for a couple of hours and washed them. Came out just fine. Washed the rest of the clothes, like norma...

The Good: Reconnecting after missing the last two years.

The Bad: 89% of the burgins I asked had no idea there were 10 principles. E-racers out of control, speeding through crowded streets. Darkwad percentage at an all time high.

The Ugly: The incident at Barbie Death Camp.

Well, I consider this years bike prep a success! Only troubles I had were a bungee cord dropping into the rear hub causing the chain to pop off. Suffered two flats on Saturday (nail and machine screw), before the burn. I had brought two tubes. Luckily, no more flats after that. The dry lube I used o...

The press loves to sensationalize things. If all art were allowed to be vandalized because someone did not like it, there would be no art, anywhere. Of course the press will not talk about that as it does not make as good of a headline. A precedent has been set. People were allowed to vandalize an i...
