Re: The Staging Lot is your friend

Did anyone end up in the 'staging lot' this year? If so, how did it go for you?

We aimed to get there at 11ish and test this, but with the usual litany of errors, we ended up hitting the line around 1am.

Re: 100% solar swamp cooler, no batteries!?

This thread bump was really useful. with the price of deep cycle batteries seemingly having increased, solar alternatives are very competitive price wise now.

Flights booked, car hire sorted, bike reserved...

Getting there :)

Next steps - finding a storage place near reno/fernley that will store our crap till next year, and organising pre-order parts and a flat space we can use to build hexayurts between SF and Reno!

Re: Undies

Strongly in favor of wicking underwear. Gets the sweat away from your skin asap so it can evaporate and cool you, but also helps prevent chafing and heat rash.

Re: Sealed wheel bearings for Cruisers?

My own bearings were overpacked with grease and never got bad, but I was giving people a squirt of chain and cable lube into the bottom bracket. It's supposed to evaporate leaving a light grease and teflon particle film so hopefully doing more good than harm. You could have been putting vegetable o...

Re: Best shade structure from walmart

Costco carport? Monkey hut? Either of those will work - although you may struggle to get a carport if flying into reno. I'm flying in and have pre-ordered all the stuff to build a monkey hut. We had a test run (with smaller parts) here to make sure we understood how it went together, and it's totall...

Re: How to sell a ticket?

Hiya, Thank you for that - I was starting to think I was some kind of idiot for not being able to find info on it. Completely understand re people not wanting to pay over the odds for tickets this early on. Will be trying to recoup any costs that I can, so may have to price them lower to get them to...

How to sell a ticket?

So, selling tickets - how do I avoid being scammed? I see a lot of posts about how to avoid being scammed as a buyer - but not as a seller. I'm in the awkward position of needing to try and sell two pre-sale tickets, as I've been left in the lurch by those I'd planned to camp with. I realise pre-sal...

Hi from the UK :)

Hi eplaya! Tom from the UK here - planning my first burn for this year - so thought I should say hullo and thank everyone for the huge volume of great advice on these forums (even if the search function is god awful). I was due to be attending with 7 others from the UK, in our own little camp, with ...

Re: An experience with these style stakes?

I've used similar forest camping (because we didn't bring tent pegs and the guys next to us had these spare) - they dio ok holding the tent down, but as a previous poster said, churned up the earth pretty badly. I'd suggest they probably wouldn't hold up to the winds you're likely to need to deal wi...
