Re: How to stabilize generator for art car

yup, proper power conditioners before your electronics should do the trick.

also amps with Power Factor Correction will help a lot, such as powersoft K series.

Re: Extending Electric Mutant Range Using On-Board Generator?

so i run my MV as a series hybrid like you describe. facebook.com/vibeapple the KEY is finding a 'dumb' charger, as modern microporcessor controlled chargers will get confused when you go full throttle and just self protect and turn off . i found this archaic semi-dumb charger from the 60s, bought i...

How to optimize plugging into camp power when parked

I am trying to design a way to easily plug into our camp power when the art car is there, so that it can recharge its batteries, power the lights, and maybe a bit of sound. I am currently running 2 honda eu2000i to power my art car. currently i have to open up the generator box, and unplug things fr...

Re: Dust trail prevention

having inspected the hula skirt post event, it doesnt seem to be missing any pieces, so lets not get derailed on the moop topic. this car is a handicap vehicle, so i dont really NEED to hide anything, but yes the skirt was there mostly for aesthetics. im adding a 20ft tall EMT/LED pineapple structur...

Re: Dust protection for audio equipment

a bucket swamp cooler can filter out a lot of dust thanks to the water trapping it in the fiber core and then the water collects it at the bottom. it can provide a lot of cooling to your equipment as well. it consumes very little power (~20w), costs only about 80$ to build, and is easily scalable if...

Dust trail prevention

im hoping we can all share strategies that we've experimented with to minimize the amount of dust our art cars kick up. some strategies might work at 3mph, some at 5mph, some at 10mph, and some at higher speeds (not that we've ever done that right?) ill start, my most effective dust preventer was to...

Re: Seeking 36v controller for marketeer cart

molotov: i specifically checked here and then by email with the dmv regarding the throttle, and they confirmed that its fine. i compared the skidmarks in deep playa between full throttle top speed (roughly 12mph) and no throttle (same speed) and they were both tiny and less than 1ft difference. i ca...

Re: Seeking 36v controller for marketeer cart

as an update, i used this controller assembly. has all the contractors and little details taken care of. https://www.nocoev.com/product/1205M-5603_assemblage.htm i limited the controller to 360A in software, and never experienced any scary temps on my motors. the controller performed flawlessly at t...

Re: Disabled vehicle permit vs Art car

the car will definitely qualify for a day and night DMV permit, but that doesnt mean im keen on going through their tedious application process and wait in long lines to have them check off the car. my best friend and co-creator in this project does have all the necessary handicap qualifications. do...

Disabled vehicle permit vs Art car

next year we will have to decide whether we bring our car as a disabled person vehicle again, or go through the regular DMV art car process. are there any reasons to not go through the disabled vehicle program? from our reasoning, its a lot less paperwork, and means that there will be one more art c...

Re: Seeking 36v controller for marketeer cart

i cant find anything that specifically requires brake lights. is that really a thing? it would somewhat complicate my system, so id rather not intergrate it if i dont have to. theres going to be a LOT of light back there, so i doubt a dinky red light would be what keeps someone from rear ending a 5m...

Re: Seeking 36v controller for marketeer cart

do you guys think the DMV will give me flack for having a simple steering wheel mounted potentiometer as my throttle? it wont have a return spring, so i can use it as a nifty cruise control (use gps to establish a 5mph mark, then label it on the knob, then i can just set it and never worry about spe...
