Re: Who snagged the last 1,000 tickets?

This is what happened to my friend. Him and his wife did not get tickets in the original pool, and signed up via step. Both got through today with their orders, both got confirmation #'s. He got an email receipt, she did not (perhaps in her spam, but he will check tonight). He then got a cancellatio...

Re: Who snagged the last 1,000 tickets?

I am in line with a friend, and wanted to share a quick investigation into the queue and the big refresh question. The ticketing page has time and every 15 seconds goes and gets an update of the waiting page direct from registration.inticketing.com. In this it has a key_queue field that it sends. Th...

Help me populate my art installation with things todo at BM.

For BM 2010, I am making an "Information Booth" type of installation, where people can go, and get a list of things "to do". The current plan is to have this displayed as a list on a computer screen, and randomly changing every 30 seconds or so. The lists will be randomly put together, and will rota...

I love the freedom cars give

Original post was right on target, and I agree completely with it, other than I don't really LOVE cars, I do completely LOVE what a car means today in America, which was said already. I do wish I had further freedom of independent transportation, and while I know airplanes and motorcycles are both g...

Mini trees and shade

Ideally the big tree will be big enough to provide lots of shade, and the leaves and main parts of tree aren't as human contact friendly as we'd like the deck/hill to be. The longer branches should be 10-12', and covered in big leaves... Lots to do still! Oh, and we will give rides to anyone who wan...

Tree Hugger art car - new on the Playa in 2007

My art car app was approved! We're well into construction, and think we've got a great idea that fits perfectly with this years theme. We call it "Tree Hugger" I have pics up on flickr here http://www.flickr.com/photos/dougnaka/sets/72157594413930021/ In the end it *should* look like a smallish hill...

mexico would be nice

I did my junior and senior years of high school in Mexico City, as a project for my Mexican Studies class I did a survey of fellow students bribe history. I really wish I had my data still. But, some of the interesting points that I still remember were. The lowest bribe given was a pack of cigarrett...

They said Gerlach is in the top right, which looks like BRC from last year would be maybe half in the lake? Not sure when this was taken though.

long time old thread...

Well everyone. I went to the burn last year, and learned a lot. Let this be a sort of summary/recap of things I learned about Burning man from my one time going half a week... First, is the slogan already "Come for the party, stay for the community"? Because it could be. The whole experience was not...

I don't want a repeating guillotine, I want one that is manual, you pull a rope or something, the blade goes up, someone puts their head it, you let go, the blade goes down, and it's quite critical that it actually NOT work and chop their heads off. Brainstorm of ideas for 2006

Hey all, I've been brainstorming and come up with a few ideas for art installations for the 06 burn. Wanted to spread some seeds of ideas. So the theme, to recap, is Hope, Fears; The Future. However you write it. Things I Hope for; Love Happiness Health / Long Life Things / Toys / Enjoyment of them ...

Experiences at our camp 05 with undercover LEOs

We were relaxing in the shade structure, and a couple in our camp was over by their tent when they were approached by a fellow "burner" who told them this story, "Hey, I just got here and couldn't find my camp so I sat on the street and lit up, and some lame cop busts me and gives me a $500 ticket. ...

Springbar tent was excellent - BM tent report

Well, I arrived about 2am Tuesday night/Wednesday morning, most of my camp was gone, and I didn't know any of them previously anyways. I setup my tent alone in about 25 minutes. It was excellent all week, during the day I would zip down the canvas windows, and let the breeze flow through, taking mor...

Going to take it camping this weekend. I've talked to more people who own them and they say their wind resistance is their best feature, since they're tight and sturdy and heavy canvas you don't notice when its a bad windstorm outside... I'll let you all know how camping goes... and then of course I...

It is, I just plonked down my $774 for my family size + tarp + stakes.. they give you like 30% off for the tarp if you buy same time, and 50% off the stakes, i got 9" nail stakes and 12" metal stakes.. not sure which'll work better for B...
