Re: Carbon Offsets within Placement 2022?

This sounds like the Papal dispensations the Popes sold in the Middle Ages to eliminate your sins. The sins still occur, but you get to feel better about them. I think the BOD is more absorbed in self justifying their salaries and their cosmic ideals than what was the basis of growing the community ...

Re: Tickets for sale in 2022 by the numbers?

Holding back 10,000 tickets is the first explanation I have seen that makes the numbers work. I think doing that is nuts (and incredibly frustrating) but leaves a glimmer of hope for more tickets showing up somewhere accessible. But I am still pissed that the BOD is pushing everyone to be part of a ...

Re: FIRST TIME BURNER- UK

Your enthusiasm is a little overwhelming. Burning Man is a fabulous experience, but is incredibly diverse. You are not likely to ever “soak it ALL in”. There will be aspects that you will love. So many, that as you concentrate on one, another slips away. Don’t expect to conquer it all in your first ...

I did not see anything that suggests they will not be selling FOMO tickets. The 1,000 reserved tickets give them quick cash. They will still want the FOMO money too.

Re: Realistic non-cooler based menu planning

I can vouch for the “just add water” pancakes. Used them a couple of years out there. The easiest is to bring the pre-measured mix in a plastic jug that you can add the water and shake until it is mixed. Then pour on the griddle and enjoy.

My son connected me with Black Rock Prime Minecraft a little over a week ago and I am enjoying the hell out of it. Lots of art and camps to see and a chance to build the camp of your dreams. It may not be the city, but it is helping to satisfy the itch to get back there.

Hi! You will find lots of information on this as you read through the Burning Man web site. Especially the Survival Guide. As far as water: one to two gallons per day is pretty usual. Bear in mind that you will likely also have lots of liquids you will bring to drink, like tea, soft drinks, coffee, ...

Having a shade awning/tarp over the tent will give you a couple of more hours before getting too hot to sleep. Or, off the playa, camping under trees.

This is probably the most positive outcome for cancellation. Refunds will be made and people can reset their plans and redirect their efforts while time still exists for good choices. I am looking forward to what can be done in creating virtual BRC. And having the choice of giving money to BM instea...

Re: CoVid-19 and The 2020 Burning Man Event

Of course we are not a real, sustainable cashless society. That does not negate the thousands of Burners who not only volunteer, but pay through the nose to be there. I think there may be a lot of dreamers that believe in the ideal. They are countered by the cynical plug and players and their gopher...

The last thing I saw was that the Main Sale was postponed with no date set for running it. So we are premature on condemning them if they cancel after Main Sale. That said, if it were to work out that they cancelled after holding Main Sale I agree that that is a point of no return for supporting the...

Re: Tarp to block heat?

I do not know what a 10x20 is, other than a frame for a sun shade. From your description you are saying that the tarp will lay directly in what ever it is. If that is the case, I suggest doing something to raise it at least a few inches to allow air to circulate under the tarp. I have used pool nood...

Re: no luck with main sale - 5 years in a row

Always try and get a ticket in the main sale. Next time could be your time. Networking and making burner connections is also key to accessing tickets later if you do not connect in the sale. Plus you can make lasting friends and have people to share your Burn with. A friend has gone to 4 Burns and o...

If you are not associated with a placed camp you will be in the “sticks” even if you arrive Saturday night at Midnight. This year I was surprised that there were still open spots on Monday, but they were out around K, and L on the 2:00 side.

Re: EMT Conduit Couplers

You can get straight connectors that should work, but I suggest using some wood to build a low shallow chamber to slip the conduit into. That is what I did this year after dealing with the whole unload everything to get to the conduit the past two years. Two 2x4’s on edge with sections of a couple o...

A camp that dumps responsibilities on a Birgin is not your friend. Your first Burn is your get acquainted tour. Having some volunteer responsibilities is great. Having lead, planning and sacrificing money and time for key parts of what is supposed to be an established camp is wrong. If the option is...

I have had good luck with a Coleman 6 man instant up tent. It is one of the few tents that has a solid fabric roof. With the windows and door zipped up it is good on dust and it takes wind fairly well.

Re: Need recommendations for goggles that fit over glasses

I use ski goggles that I got at Big 5. Unfortunately, this time of year they can be hard to find. It also depends on the size of the frames on your glasses. I got a new pair of glasses my second year that still fit, but they are pretty tight. If you order through Amazon Prime there is free return, s...

You may be over thinking this. All you should need is enough clearance to allow air flow. As long as the Monkey Hut is not in contact with the tent there should not be any heat transfer. Just a few inches will provide that.

Look for some of the packing lists Burners have assembled for detailed suggestions. Your clothes will not be destroyed, just washed. However, your shoes may not fare as well. The last two years were fairly mild at night but it can get pretty chilly, so layering is likely a good idea. Besides breathi...

Welcome to Eplaya! Most information for what to expect and how to prepare can be found on the Burning Man web site. Your biggest obstacle is getting tickets.
