Re: Nevada proposes new "company towns" ~ autonomous zones
50,000 acres min size definitely limits this to the billionaires boys club. BMORG probably doesn't have the cash. Biggest obstacle I see is vast tracks of land in Nevada with no incorporated cities are that way because they lack water. The NSA data center in Utah needs more water for cooling than th...

Panel Tilt 40.78 degrees from level would be perfect for BRC at high noon on equinox. 31 degrees for the last week of August, but erring toward 40-45 is just fine. More tilt gathers less dust and that extra 10-15 degrees won't cost you one drop of electricity. . Series vs Parallel When my local RV ...

[quote="Jeannie Ginx" post_id=1202330 time=1593972452 that equals 67.2 watts per hour? So my panel should be able to run this no problem? My old 100W panel in the Black Rock sun maxed out just under 6 amps. My newer 160W panel gives me 9ish amps. In theory a 50W panel should give you the 2.5+ you think your small pump needs.... ----BUT #1--- motors on pumps and refrig draw more than advertised on startup. You'll need a battery for sta...

Looks like pennies on the dollar compared to actual damages, but PG&E doesn't have the pennies. They have filed for bankruptcy. They have missed payments on debt, and stock is trading at 1/4 its pre-fire value. Nobody is getting satisfaction out of this.

I can 't seem to find the "What happens if we stay closed too long?" article. In short: We wake up to a post apocalyptic economy; no jobs to go back to; monopoly money in our wallets; and govt aid is a meaningless exercise in hyperinflation. We will still be dying for lack of Covid19 vaccine, pl...

The 18 months I lived in the high desert was the healthiest of my life. Never got bit by a mosquito or pulled a tick off my dog. If this thing goes from bad to worse and I need to bail the desert will be my first choice of refuge.

I like that freeze dried has more "texture" as it transitions from cardboard to soggy. Canned or fresh would be more difficult to keep the daiquiri viscosity thick in the desert heat.

Can any med folks say exactly how many folks have caught the flu in Black Rock City in recent years? I'm guessing August in the desert is the off season.
