Re: 2012 Theme Camps - will you make it this year?
I've been silent here since the idea about the lottery was first posted on eplaya. My husband and my theme camp were eager for 2012 after a five-year saving-money-and-gathering-a-larger-group hiatus. We are/were a small camp, but we offered everything we had in 2006, even though we ended up being on...

Re: New Burningman Ticket Process - 2012
As a person with enough money to build a camp and buy a ticket at whatever tier there is (although one always would like to save what one can, especially now), I feel absolutely horrible for those who are going to plan, scrimp and save and will end up paying more than they would've last year. It is ...

Agree with Priceline Name Your Own Price: http://biddingfortravel.yuku.com/directory#.TrYw-GA9G_A , click on 'hotels' under 'Frequently Asked Questions' -- it will explain exactly what to do. We regularly get 3* hotels in SF for around $70/night; you could easily get a 3* for around $50 if you wait ...

We've been looking, too, coming from the Bay Area. I got a response from a burner-friendly place owned by a burner mentioned on the BMan website 'resources' page as being a place that doesn't jack up the prices for burners. This is what I was quoted (this was the "just lowered" price): 25' Class C -...

Maybe your mom is recognizing at some level that you are changing, moving away from her--and are going to do something completely different from what she would do--and this scares her. For many people, 'you must = me and I must = you' is a very important equation, and you = not me is impossible to c...

Oh, yeah. Completely understand that.AntiM wrote: I am a Californian who cannot live in California for my mental health.
I grew up in San Diego and never felt like it was real. As an adult, going back, I realize that is because many, many (not all) of the people who live there are... ghosts with smiles.

I've been thinking about this since the OP posted, and feel worse and worse about it. It was essentially an ad for the cool people who make and buy W magazine--and I'll bet it sold some advertising in the magazine, too--the setting is, of course, unique and gorgeous. Of course, if they just wanted a...

And now they have taken down (from the home page of the BMan website) not only the actual date the tickets for 2012 go on sale (which was up until just after the burn), but also any mention of tickets going on sale at all. Sigh...

Our first burn, in 2005, on our very first morning, my then-future husband and I ran into a guy wandering down the street with a thick, heavy coat on in over 100 degree heat. He was weaving and delirious with cracking lips and an unfocused stare, and kept going in and out of consciousness. We steere...

Women are so much more than their parts
And there are more creative ways of demonstrating freedom and self-determination than by bearing breasts to what's now become a sea of cameras. It would be nice to make that clear in the title.
I think your idea to rename CT is a great one.

This thread is making me sad somehow. :( New burners need to be educated, no matter their age. We haven't been to B Man since 2006, and are going again in 2012. In talking to 20-something virgins in our northern CA town, we hear the same thing: B Man is a big rave, people do drugs and have random se...

As has been posted elsewhere, they are working to get the permit increased for 70,000 attendees by 2016 and are converting to nonprofit status. It's very unlikely this will be the last burn.

Agree, TD. I watched ustream now and then from Monday through tonight, and had the same thoughts. My friend just returned this morning--he hadn't been since 2006, left just before the man burned; felt there were just too many people now, too many RVs, Anniversary & Birthday streets were inches deep ...
