Your spidey sense is keen. This thread has convinced me that I need to prepare for extreme cold, though, so I get it now. Thanks for the advice!

Re: Likely temperature range for 2017?

FWIW, in 2005 it went from 28 degrees to 105 in 36 hours. From literally freezing to broiling in a day and a half. In 2000 it rained every damn day. Every one! And we were freezing in mid-afternoon. Other years, like 2004, it was hot and very warm well past midnight. So you really never can tell. E...

Re: Likely temperature range for 2017?

Cool, yeah, sounds like a lot of layers is the way to go. I've been to some regional burns in January where the temperatures really were in the 20s, and being properly equipped was the difference between having a great time and literally freezing to death. What about sleeping, though? Do we need col...

Re: Likely temperature range for 2017?

You're burning since you've been to burning man. I mean, unless I've been walking on other planets for decades, since I've been practicing on this one and all... Sigh. Yeah, I know, regionals aren't the same thing, despite all the volunteering I've done, the shared community and principles, etc. Bu...

I actually have been going to regional burns since 2010. So this will be my 13th burn, but my first Burning Man. Weird, I know, but I live pretty far from Nevada.

Likely temperature range for 2017?

I've been told (repeatedly) that it can get quite cold on playa, like in the lower 30s. However, the weather forecast for the next 10 days only shows lows in the mid 50s or lower 60s. I know that no one can predict the weather in advance, but in years past, was it already getting cold at night this ...

Re: How hard is it to pound in concrete form stakes?

Awesome, thanks for the links. For the concrete form stakes, I put an eyelet bolt through the top hole on the stake to a) provide a place to tie paracord easily and b) provide some leverage to pry the stake back out of the ground. I guess we'll see if that helps with the suction issue. I wonder whet...

Re: How hard is it to pound in concrete form stakes?

Just out of curiosity, where do you find 18" lag screws? I live in a fairly large city, and none of the hardware stores (HD, Lowes) I went to had anything close. The biggest I could find was 12". I ended up getting 18" concrete form stakes instead.

I wouldn't say I'm worried about it, but I was assuming the reason camps card people is because they're legally liable if they don't. Otherwise, why bother?

Carrying ID: copy or original?

I know that a lot of bar camps will card you, which makes sense. But I've heard some people talk about having copies of your ID attached to your cup, and other places refer to having your actual ID on you. Is it sufficient to just have a printed copy, or does it have to be an actual ID for people to...
