So happy we went! Hung out with the Captain, GreyCoyote and significant others, plus many other such characters. The GreyCoyote crew kept us well fed, thanks. Saved us from eating our backpacking food!
We should be so lucky next year.

Come hell or high water, we are going. Scrapped our original plans for Labor Day weekend. Heading to the Playa Friday Sept 4, two or three nights on the Playa, then back home. It should be interesting to see how many people make the journey.

Re: So who is still going?
Had tickets for this year! Went for first time in 2017 and again 18, 19. It was great and has become a part of my and my wife’s life. We were disappointed when it was canceled. Made other plans after it was cancelled so cannot make it to the Playa this year, however, will make it next year no matter...

Thanks for the info Dr. Pyro. I Have only attended BM since 2017, the whole thing is so cool, and nothing like on the face of the earth. But this happens, self-appointed art/ political police show up and spoil the fun. I just hope this is an "isolated incident ". Sorry this happened to Wildman you a...

Re: Nitwits attack Barbie Death Camp BM 2019
Not Disney Land for sure, that's what I love about Burning Man. The articles indicate that a barbie camp member was charged with assault with a deadly weapon for breaking an tail light? Maybe the articles are leaving out details, but it sounds very unfair for that serious of charge. And it seems at ...

Re: Hello all you dusty burners.
I suggest you don’t join a camp your first year, your first year is an introduction to BM, get the lay of the land, explore. Forget about list of camps and that stuff. Concentrate on preparing for camping with just you and your wife. Maybe bring some art that you might what to gift. Keep it simple f...

Very sad indeed. I did not “discover” BM until last year. I know it’s not the same as in the past, but I still had a great time and will going again this year. I was amazed at some of the RV “city’s” I passed by, some of which I am sure were p+p. I have heard of a guy standing in the street directin...

Re: PVC: bellend vs. connectors
I followed the instructions according to this website (see below) for BM2107, worked out great. Structure held up without any noticeable damage during the few wind storms we had that week. The web site does not mention anchoring down the hut. This year I bought some ½ - 18 in lag screws / and two ch...

Wow Strata and Silvergirl – You guys got this down to a science! Great write ups, just missing the finite element analysis! My MH survived the few brief wind storms last year, I dodged a bullet because I did not anchor the ends down with rope and lag screws. Wont make that mistake this year. Now I j...

We bought the $1200 tickets for 2017 which was our first year. We tried the STEP sale after a while I gave up on that and bought the $1200 ticket on June 25. This year we got lucky in main sale. Somewhere I read that the last chance to buy $1200 tickets is just before the OMG sale, but not sure abou...

Removing assault rifles from the equation may help, who’s to say? It might even make it worse, replace the guns with a fertilizer bomb or a truck as examples. Sad as it is Crazy always finds a way A few facts 1927 – Bath, Michigan school – weapon/bomb – 43 students and teachers died 1958 – Chicago s...

If you have all your camping gear it seems like you would want drive from Ohio not fly, unless of course you pay a ton of money to ship the gear to Reno and rent a car? Re: OK so what the hell did I miss (the good old days)?
Thanks to all for the responses. One of our camping neighbors was living in San Francisco back in the day, associated with the cacophony society, went to a few burns in the early 90’s, 2017 was his first burn since then, he brought his 20 yo son with him. I ask him how it compared to the old days, H...

So 2017 was our first year, hardly knew what Burning Man was this time last year. Still trying figure it out BTW. What I would like to know is this, things that happened say in the 80’s and 90’s at burning man that don’t happen Today, or maybe new stuff that did not exist in the old days that happen...

Hi Betsy – We (wife and I) went for the first time this year, in fact this time last year we had only a vague idea of BM was, with the encouragement of a veteran burner co-worker we started to researched the event, the more we looked into it the more we wanted to go. This was after the main sale, so...
