Re: What criteria would you use to give away a free ticket

Now then, if you had a ticket with a face value of "Gift", how would you select a person to give this to?
When you pass something on as a gift why do it with conditions?

I second Simon's idea.

Maybe something a bit more colorful. Something like a cross between Hunger Games and a bum fight.

Re: Appeal filed against the raised population cap of 60,900

To look backward for a while is to refresh the eye [of a dick], to restore it, and to render it the more fit for its prime function of looking forward. - Margaret Fairless Barber Consider your boring past. Consider your infinite, potential future. I don't imagine you to be a bad guy at all. Just a ...

Re: Appeal filed against the raised population cap of 60,900

Having gone to Glastobury for a week back in 2005 as a representative of the Black Rock Rangers, I was surprised at how much they do well and also how miserably they fail. Where they fail is having 30,000 thousand (yes, THOUSAND) people 'volunteering' on one level or another to watch after the other...

Re: Bro-n-law comes through BIG TIME !!

Let people refer to BRC as Home if they want to, it doesn't hurt you. It does hurt me. In fact, it pains me. Wounds me to the quick. Chills the marrow in my bones. Yet, it gives me tremendous delight when I set the hook after it gets hit by little fish who'd weigh in with what's appropriate or not ...

Re: Appeal filed against the raised population cap of 60,900

The latter isn't likely, and I'd be surprised to find out that 10k landsailers or land speed record seekers hit the playa every year. Oh, I see. We shut down an argument with the typical needs-of-the-many-outweight-the-needs-of-the-few retort. Cheesus, if you're gonna engage with a counter argument...

Re: Appeal filed against the raised population cap of 60,900

Cxbrx, I for one appreciate your brevity in explaining your reasoning. I can also appreciate the dualistic nature of loving a place like the Black Rock, appreciating the event and challenging the status quo insofar as the BLM buckling under to the event organizers. I think a good number of people re...

Re: Burning Man is NOT a Festival

I have often described it as summer camp for adults, too, after starting off with "It's an art festival in the desert" and mentioning having to bring your own water. And I and others have always described it as the Special Olympics of art. Ya wanna go and support it but sometimes you just gotta lau...

Imagine that the simple act of giving the extra money would bring joy to the person giving, and relief and comfort to the person in need who was selling it. Imagine tha...

A land sailor from Cotati, Calif., he also says Burning Man is to blame for dunes that have prevented him and other groups from using the Black Rock Desert for their activities. That will be a difficult claim to prove. I imagine that even with a citizen's appeal the burden of proof will still be on...

The hilarious part is that most of the folks I know who don't have tickets at this point have already made other plans. A'yep. Same with many of the people I know. People who know that for years have helped (and contributed) to defining the Man experience but are altogether unwilling to allow the M...
