Woo Hoo! I bought my first 400' of EMT. I'll need another 490' or so still. The neat part is that they sell red and blue EMT as well as the silver. So I purchased all the material needed for my C struts, and they are all fire alarm red :D I'm cutting as we speak! Edit: also, it seemed like a good bu...

scratch the part about not coming becuase of some narcs. form the pictures of the buildings and the idea of free expression this sounds way to rad to miss becuase of some cops. but will the LEO presence mean you can be charged with indecent exposure if you chose to go nude? If it will be an installation I would go with metal or wood, something ridged. Are you afraid the wind would tear the fabric? I think you would be better off using plywood, or a press board or something as the walls instead, unless you want to have a light under it. There is a stretchy fabric that I...

Re: Law enforcement
From reading the guide it gave me an understanding that there are alot of undercover officers at this event. Is this an exageration or is that reality? And for underage drinking (im of age in canada but wont be down in the U.S. :( ) is it a big big deal or is it like here and the worst thing that c...

I built a model this weekend out of straws! It should serve as a key when laying out the actual deal, and it helped me get a better visual of the dome and the process. For some reason I was thinking just doing 3/8 of a 3V would be cool, but now I can clearly see 5/8 is the way to go. If only it wasn...

Also, This page makes me a little sad, seeing as how he only had to pay 2.26$ per 10' stick for the EMT.kampkalamazoo wrote:Reg Chao- This link is to a site describing, in detail, the construction of a 12' rad. 3V 5/8 dome....

Wooo Hooooo! OK, I sold my old car and now have the scratch to buy my dome supplies. I used the dome calculator over at dessert domes to spec out an 11.5' radius 3V dome. Each strut would be under (but maybe just barely under) the 5' mark. This way I can get 2 struts per 10' tube. My question now is...

What haven't YOU finished yet? My dome. I've saved a little over half of the 300$ needed for buying the steel. I believe (*hope*) I sold my old car last night and I should be collecting the cash for it today. If so, I'll go buy all my dome supplies this weekend! Other then that I'm planning on maki...

RagnaRoss you say some familiar thgings. I also feel unsure about being welcome at theme camps and in general. Then again I can feel that way in the "real world" also. I've been twice. I have to say that there are alot of similarities w/ the "real world". I'm wondering if it's me bringing those fee...

The fact that BM is held out in the middle of the desert, requiring you to bring your weeks worth of food and water with you goes a long way to prevent the gawkers. In the city it's easy to go to some random event for the night and be a spectator. It takes a lot more to do that for burning man. I do...

Re: Burners In Eugene Oregon??
Just moved to Eugene! I was a part of The Messiah Complex from Klamath Falls this year. I don't know many people up here.. thought i'd seek out the burners. We're here! You just missed a local decompression. There are a ton of burners in Eugene. The Oregon Country Fair is very well represented, and...

We'll have to watch the prices, with the disasters happening everywhere....(*Holding fingers to forehead*) ....I predict another spike in steel prices. Yea, I hope it doesn't go up too much more too soon. I don't have the scratch to buy all 60 tubes I need yet. But I'm thinking I should probably st...

Here is one of my favorite stories from this year: I was walking towards a row of porta potties and noticed a cute girl walking away from them. She suddenly stopped mid stride, turned around and walked back to one of the johns. She opened the door started talking with some guy that was inside. She s...

By the way- How'd you do the Man logo? Is it roughed up, or actually painted on? I bleached it out. Specifically I used Clorox Bleach Sticks (about three of them). Before I glued the felt, I taped out the design, then spread the bleach gel inside of it. I let it sit and dry for about 5+ hours. Once...

I saw a dome with a tramp as the upper platform. It looked comfy to lounge in, but I'd be afraid of some idiot jumping off! Btw, I'm planning on building either an 8.5', 2v or 11.5', 3v dome for 2006. I think the decision on the size will largely be a $$ issue. Although I was excited to find a local...
