The violation the post contained was the unauthorized use of Burning Man images in a commercial context. The seller removed those images this week after my reminder that the ticket text prohibits that type of use.

All possibilities should be examined, all decisions should be well-informed - but look how all over the map the opinion is. As of right now, w...

There is no such rule in place - sorry to burst your bubble. And here's the Tip Sheet from '09 just in case that's really the document you're thinking of. SUCH a thing if it did exist (which really, it doesn't) would be under "Sound" on this document... http://www.flickr.com/photos/actiongrl/5320927...

You know, not every upgrade happens just because a new release comes out. Sometimes, for example, your code might have proprietary customizations that prevent upgrades from integrating neatly, and yeah, require paying someone to figure out. IN case you haven't checked out the rest of Burningman.com ...

If the ePlaya is down, other things are usually down too, and we never let it sit over holidays and weekends - often if it's out for that long it's not because it's being ignored! We have a full time sysadmin, yes indeed, though we're indeed understaffed to really provide the kind of focus that ePla...

The words "Burning Man" are indeed a trademark, as is "Black Rock City". But it's ok to print it __ on a gift you will give away __ so long as this item is not marketed/sold by you, nor made available to buy from said printer/vendor. You can also pool camp money to buy, say, a t-shirt for your camp ...

All of the feedback we got to the office has already been covered here - more info at Exodus being the predominant theme.

The coffee sales support the construction of the Cafe, the one big shady spot on the playa that belongs to everyone. The ice sales are (net) donated. Here's who they benefited last year - including the donation of all tips by the Arctica volunteers. From 2009's Afterburn: "....this year our generous...

The original poster was the first to ask the moderators to take it down, actually. I instead just temporarily locked it and hid it while I researched what was going on. It had comments in it already and I don't think it's appropriate to kill threads that are already active. As I understand it, a cla...

If you want to take that energy and direct it somewhere that it will help prevent asthma, which you seem to hold as an aim, there is probably plenty to be said for working to end particulate pollution in places where children spend their entire childhoods. On the playa, for the short time we're ther...

The price point isn't the issue - the mass availability and outright commercial nature of internet availability is the sticking point that we're up against, and that shouldn't be too hard to understand. If a photographer wasn't asked about his sale price when approved to sell prints, that was an err...

I really meant it that way, I've seen items for sale get passed around in this community enough to know that they can become memes & go viral. It sounds weird to say in those terms, but it's true.
