ugh

well, I have to agree with you. As a functioning city of 40,000, you do not have the safety and security you once did when there were only 4000 people -- partly because you knew someone who knew someone else who knew that person that did whatever. I went to a small college in VA, and it was exactly ...

yep, sucks about people "borrowing" a bike

I can't believe that I've started locking my bike when I head to the port-o-lets, the burn... practically everywhere.. even at home near camp..

it's true that I came out once to a a girl who was standing there looking for her bike. Someone decided that they didn't want to walk home.

ReBA's photograph of the Yahoo's is interesting. There are a few guys who look like they've been out on the playa all week, and then the guy in the middle with the telephoto lens (guess supersoakers are out) who is clean, no dust in sight and is wearing his gold rolex. (who the F wears a gold rolex ...

ok

allllriiiigght. (sarcastic grin) so maybe I'm a little wrong. I'm just saying that the title "We be burnin'", one art car with flames, and music thundering from semi's decked out in neon (ok, on the playa I've never seen semi's with neon) but you get the impression that's what burning man is about i...

Exploitation of Burning Man?

Using Burning Man in a video... watch! WTF? Ok, so, there's no "man" in the video, but those art semis and fire spewing cars look vaguely familiar. Yeah, next year we'll have all the East/West rap crewe showing up in Semi's with gangsta guns and bling, sipping Crystal and driving tricked out Escalad...

not really off topic

Actually, Christian extremists are pointing fingers at Burning Man being a Satanic Holiday. This is an older page and I'm sure it's already found a link here on Eplaya, but I'm Christian with Buddhist leanings and I found this website just a little disturbing that this guy missed the message so badl...

Right on, Neon. Exactly my thoughts. I'm just glad that the situation was a few personal items that were run over, and not as the fake news report I made up. One only has to do a search for pileups and collisions to know that even the biggest highways with shoulders and emergency services have pileu...
But there you are, we're all in it, shit happens, it's chaos, it's humanity.
Yeah, I guess you're right. I was next to the bagpipes playing Auld Lang Syne" which was totally moving. That is, until an art car carrying a bunch of clean, jeans and polo shirts crowd moved in wit...

Music at the Temple Burn

Did anyone else want to run over and rip out the speaker wire of the "art" cars that pulled up to the Temple burn with music blaring?

The temple burn has always been a spiritual thing, and recently it's become just another burn for the weekenders to party to.

any thoughts?

It could have read like this...

Black Rock City, NV - (AP) September 4, 2005. A massive 35 trailer pile up on Rt. 447 yesterday killed 15 attendees at the area's popular Burning Man festival held each year outside of Gerlach. A massive pileup on northbound 447 resulted in the deaths of 35 festival attendees known as "Burner...

Jeers to the people that showed up late friday night, pissed (and took a dump on) the playa, left their trash all around and then took off early sunday. You are not burners. **why does BMorg allow this, btw? I guess it increases ticket sales** Ugh, I hate, hate, hate the jeans and polo crowd who sta...

my thoughts exactly Kinetic. Allanon, if a EIS was done for the playa like most national parks (regardless of whether BM does one or not) you might find that where BRC is located is far cleaner and better maintained than other events regardless of location. I've been to a few large events in my time...

It makes fiscal insurance sense to be on public land. that stupid disclosure statment they have on the tickets does nto mean much. ttyl rex
Rex, looked through your site (I l...
