Re: Large Generator - Looking for Rental/Fueling advice

I don't believe there is such as thing as "on-playa diesel fueling". Learning something new about Burning Man every day. (Not really, more like once a year... :D ) Are you sure you need 50KW of power? The average home is only using 38.5 kWhr per day. And I believe that 50kW is larger than anything ...

Re: Large Generator - Looking for Rental/Fueling advice

I don't believe there is such as thing as "on-playa diesel fueling". You could contact a generator supplier and arrange to buy the delivery driver a ticket so he can drop off and service/fuel your generator, but given the ticket situation, that will be problematic. More common solution is to get a g...

Re: What project are you procrastinating on?

Procrastinating on my bike as well, although a quick check a month ago suggests it won't be too much work. The chain flexed when pushed on, so that's a good sign. I also was building a quadcopter to fly a small camera over art projects for aerial photos. Ran into electrical snags and just sort of dr...

Re: Drum circles around the man

This year, due to past problems, drum circles are only being allowed around the sound camps and in deep playa. This may be an inconvenience for some but will ultimately solve many longstanding problems with the sound which can carry incredibly long distances. Last year, two burners who refused to m...

Re: Film Maker seeking Collaborator

From the initial description, I have my worries that the Media team would not approve this project. This "ninja" style of shooting sounds a bit light on technicalities, like model/actor releases, which BM pretty much requires. Shooting such a piece without Burning Man's okay is a fast-track to a law...

Don't forget that the main Burning Man website has a rideshare board: http://rideshare.burningman.com/ridesha ... -man-2012/

You are probably not getting much of a response because most people go to that site to search for and share rides.

Re: Anyone use a product called "salt-away"

Your spray is MORE likely to collect playa dust and lead to corrosion than bare metal would. Just driving back home is going to blow the playa dust off of bare metal, but not if you have an "oily residue" coating your surfaces. So clean your engine and under-carriage before you go so you do not have...

On a related issue, how does Glitter Camp get past the Gate each year with literally buckets of loose glitter. I know it sucks when you've been doing something for years and years and sudden you are told that it really isn't acceptable. Yet somehow Glitter Camp seems immune to any explanation or dem...

Shady Asylum's lawn and Gate rules

How is Shady Asylum going to get their grass lawn through Gate this year?
http://shadyasylum.org/

It seems that the rules for ANY plants, dead or alive, is that it's moop and not allowed past the gate.

Well, the first thing to do would be to go to the Theme Camp archive (http://www.burningman.com/themecamps/) and look up the details for camps of yesteryear. There are a few hundred food-based theme camps nowadays, including some that rove the playa, like the Dust City Diner (an artcar that serves c...

Poor choice of words, perhaps. Clearly there are people that can "afford" quite a bit. Endless money is certainly a solution to many of the problems with going to Burning Man.

But I'm with Stretch. This comment seems like a fail in Radical Inclusion.

most red-colored lenses still allow the other colors through to some degree. Not appreciably. A red (yellow, green, blue) LED is as close to a single wavelength you can get to without a laser... I did not mention that when an art car approaches, their headlights easily overwhelm my nightvision, so I turn the headlamp on. Thus that concern that you all have about driving over me is lessened. As for art cars that are hard to see out of, isn't this the policy from the DMV? "Have ground guides ...

I wear a headlight (default:turned off) and a red blinker on the back of my waterpack, but do not illuminate myself fully.
