Re: radical self-reliance

I would say very few individuals SOLELY do not depend on anyone else in every single aspect of their burn. That is why people camp together. I wouldn't say that! I've never not taken care of ALL my own logistics and my friends do the same. We camp together because we're friends and like to hang out...

Truly being radical self-reliant, i taking care of yourself, only yourself, and depend on no one might be harder than you think. I would say very few individuals SOLELY do not depend on anyone else in every single aspect of their burn. That is why people camp together. Really, if you need to pound l...

If by better you mean more jerktastically obsessed people freaking out about a detail that ultimately didn't really matter, then yes I agree. You hit the nail on the head Trilo!!!! A true saga... The debate over whether timestamps meant anything or not was up there with Lincoln/Douglas and Kennedy/...

I just have to let this out....       STEP was SOOOO much better last year!!!!! I mean people really cared about their timestamp!!! It was limited to a select number, no just registering like 3 days later. We truly and really cared. It just seem...

Anyone?

Re: Scalpers

I thought there was going to be a more bullet proof system this year, I guess not. I do hope that STEP works like it did last year, everyone who wants a ticket gets one and the glut of tickets at the end of July/early August ruins the profits for the professional scalpers. As of now, two days in, th...

Re: Goggles - What do YOU use?

Brought 4 different types of eye wear. i find it necessary since my contacts always start bothering me even with minimal amount of dust, much less a white out. The one pair of ski goggles I reinforced the thin layers of foam by using cut up t-shirt and hot gluing to the inside. Worked great, until t...

Night of the burn, I was at Burn Wall Street, I was right up on the perimeter to watch the fire. It was extremely hot for sure!!! Hey Trilo, sorry to hear about the lack of communication on the Tuna Guys. I think they might have had some issues between the organizer of their kickstarter and the core camp members. I too gave them my largest donation (out of about 10 total). I am friendly with one of the camp members, so I knew ...

Evap cooler yes. Monkey hut, big yes! Pair of air Jordan's with busted velcro top. Cut off velcro tops and used for goggle strap holders, and the sneakers worked great as comfy walking/biking shoes. The mister was awesome from cleaning stuff to cleaning myself to being the official mister for critic...

The naked guy that climbed to the top/center of the base of The Man on maybe Thursday. Totally harshed my mellow, yo. Everyone was screaming at him to stop. Thank god for quality construction -- he was literally hanging off a single piece of decorative wood at the very top. Would have fallen if it'...

The Comfort and Joy suicide, and Kathy Lampman falling under the art car trailer, those two for sure. Wasn't there a plane crash one year which killed three or four people? And a guy who ran into the Man's flames but died in Reno? An unconfirmed death in a tent, overdose or heart attack, which didn...

Re: cooling your tent or van

Hey FigJam! I sacrificed my IPod dock charger which was 7.5 volts. It works, but the flow of water is not great and is temperamental to position with the opposite end of the connector barely getting a drip. Would hooking to 12v be any better? Is this pump just lame? It is a lot smaller than what I t...

Ok has the home depot bucket changed or do I have thinner duracool pad? I measure exactly and the outer loop was too big trimmed it down an inch, but it is still up against the holes.... There should be a small gap between holes and pad, right? Just want to be sure it is right before I sew it togeth...

Ok last minute decision to make cooler. Was about to go ballistic after typing to lowes and after all summer seeing the big pile of duracool pads, there were none. Re: Awkwardly Camping with Ex & his GF Situation - Advice?

Keep the drama away!!!! Find a close friend in your camp that would consider crashing with you. Tell Ex that said person is actually going to PAY THEIR WAY and chip in for RV, even if you actually take nothing. You don't want this to soil your first burn. He should be cool since he is asking for ALO...
