Ivy, and other LA-areans, if you feel warm fuzzy thoughts around 9 tonight, they're coming from me, in the 747 overhead.
I'll be in the LA area tomorrow for some work junk. Short trip this time. Will try to allow for some play-time next trip!

SF Decompression is set for October 12th! Playa Dust camp has plans to return to Black Top City. R-pod will be making a return trip to the Black Rock Desert to haul "home" enough playa dust to annoint all who wish to feel the dust in their hair once more. There is a new version of el-wire that I have heard of. I think it's called "tail wire". Cool Neon stocks it, probably others do too. From what I've heard, it has some sort of stripping attached, so you can stitch it onto costumes using a sewing machine with a zipper foot attachment.

San Francisco Decompression will be October 12th. I would like to propose an eplaya remeet/regreet there, for all who can be geographically present. And yes, the rest of you will be there in our thoughts and hearts! R-pod will be returning for a second year as head of Playa Dust Camp at Decompressio...

I brought several jars of garlic-stuffed green olives. It doesn't get much saltier than that! They can be kept out of the cooler until the jar seal is broken. But they taste ever so much better when they're chilled. I'm told they have many uses: The eplayan formerly known as Badger made a martini of...
This has become our "traditional" first meal on the playa, served the night that most camp members have arrived: Buy pre-boned salmon fillets and freeze in individual gallon-sized zip loc bags. I generally get a half pound per person, or slightly less. About an hour before you want to cook, thaw the...
The first few days are a snap. . . as long as the coolers stay in the shade, the ingredients are fine. But later in the week, the challenge grows. I'd love to hear from others (individuals or theme camps) about recipes that use mostly dry, canned, or other non-perishable ingredients. If they're vegg...

I think the phenomenon can be explained if you think about the situation realistically: If 30,000+ creative people try to imagine things that will be fun to see, relatively hassle-free to wear, and relatively inexpensive to make or obtain, there's bound to be some duplication of efforts. Even two ou...

I wore my Merrell mocs a lot too. Can't beat them for comfort. And I love slip-on shoes because it's so quick and easy to take them off for "no shoes inside please" camps. I'll have to find a photo for those of you who didn't see them, but I had a lot of fun covering up my mocs with child's swim fli...
