I'm gonna chime in with a bit of a disagreement. :p The 300w rule is a bit bogus, and not really enforced. I've had more than double that for years, and camp dead smack in the middle of the city. The rule I follow, is be respectful to your neighbors. There are definitely times in the day when we hav...

The Moonshine Tavern is expanding this year, and we're adding nightclub next to the bar for some booty shakin action. We are looking for people to help us make some noise. What are we looking for? Some good live musak. While electronic music is great and dandy, and we'll have some decks set up for p...

Besides, you really don't want to leave your bags out overnight, in the dust. And, if that's not enough, that thing would be unberably hot before 8am. :)

Oh, and on a slightly related note.....Indian tacos! I swear, I look forward to the indian side-of-the-road tacos almost as much as I look forward to burningman itself. I'm salivating right now. I think I've stopped by the same stand for the last four years. It's the first one you see on the ...

I'm with LOR on this one. The other 51 weeks of the year, I love food. I love cooking, and I don't eat much junk. On the playa, however, all that goes out the window. I find that it's far too hot, and I'm far too lazy to cook. I found that canned soups, chili and the like are my best friends. Canned...

haha! Yup, sounds like the tavern. It was indeed a single carport then, and I believe that was the last year the moonshine came in different "flavored" (or, however flavored fire can be) variaties. Oh, and that was the year the shotfglasses were doubleshots! haha. Trouble. '06 the location was not s...

BD Aaaaaannnd 05, and 04 (althought I think 04 we were closer to 8....). :p Teo, that's pretty funny, 05 is when I first discovered the tavern as well. that's the year they were down a 7:20 and D, right? The equipment is farely well protected, although we did have to throw a tarp over the stuff once or twice during the really bad storms. Truthfully though, I wouldn't bring something out there that you really don't want ruined. All the equipment you see there is "burning man" equipement. As for build...

To expand on what BitterDan said, we used some nice thick, plush carpet (you can see it in the pic on the last page). This has some advantages, and disadvantages. The adventage, of course is that the floor is comfy, and many a souls crashed out on it. As a matter of fact, I don't think anyone slept ...

Thanks for the advice falk! I'm not worried too much about waterproffing, as I'm planning on painting the canvas, thus water-proofing it. The chrinkage I will definitely have to worry about. I figure what I will do, is calculate the dimensions of a hex, cut it out, and wash it, then measure again. A...

Emma, I think pretty much everything has been mentioned already, but I'll throw in some words of experience. Building the dome is not as hard as you may think. You *may*, and it's a far shot have to adjust the carb a bit, but I *highly* doubt it. If it runs good here, you should have no problems up there. There's plenty of golf carts on the playa, some much older than yours.

What's it decorated as? Pics pics pics!!!!!!!!!

You know, now that you mention is, you could probably just use Saran wrap to wrap up the laptop keyboard. You'd need an external mouse, but it should work. Just make sure to leave the a breater hole of the fans. Maybe an extra filter? The decks have too many moving parts, so but the wheels of steel ...

I have a separate set of "Burn" equipment. AKA, if it breaks, it won't break my heart equipment. It's damn near impossible to keep stuff clean out there, as I'm sure you know. Keeping stuff covered when not in use is always good, as well as not using it in the dust storm, but considering how dusty i...

Teepee's work just fine, aside from the little detail of transportation. Problem is, that for any decent sized teepee, you end up with HUGE posts. If you have the means to transport it, then by all means, bring it. It should hold up in the wind if properly secured. The transportation aspect is the r...

Okie. We're sensible people, but we can get quite loud.

And yes, we will have a drumset, lots of random percussion people can beat on, some guitars, a sound system, and plenty of mics to plug in any wandering didg players and whatnot.

Stop on by, we'll be practically neighbors. :)
