Dustdevil and Scootert – thanks for your comments and support. I hope to see you both out there! TITWI – I know I am doomed. That’s why I signed on with APOKILIPTIKA in the first place. Toolmaker – EXCELLENT idea to use hand shavers. Saves a lot of cost, is easy to move about the playa...

Sno Kones

I am thinking about gifting 2,000 sno-kones for 2008. I know how much ice and syrup I need plus I can get a commercial grade ice shaver. I also know I need to get a food permit. Does anyone have any experience with trying to make and distribute sno-knoes on the playa? Are there any problems or obsta...
How about a token dispensation that says "I took it to Zsu Zsu" on one side and something about drama on the other. Like some sort of absolution.
PERFECT! I also like TITWI idea about a lone chair. How about a large sign on the side of the trailier that read...

Jelly - How about this treatment for the Zsu Zsu project: we encourage folks having drama problems to go to her trailer near the trash fence (because her camp mates threw her out of the city). There could be a panel of red buttons with typical causes of drama (romantic problems, someone stole someth...

It is great to read about all of the truly wonderful things that happen on the playa. I am experiencing the good gifting vibes and I still have never even been to a burn yet. I have been enthusiastically telling my friends about my upcoming journey to the playa and been "gifted" twice. One friend is...

A tasting menu for the playa

The PlayaQ camp (home of the perfect playa BBQ) post got me thinking: what other camps specialize in serving food to the denizens of BRC? I have heard of a pancake camp but don't know of any others. Thoughts?

Wow - Ron, I never quite expected that type of reply to my question. Here I was looking for ideas for something to hand out to others and I get stories that are much more beautiful and interesting than anything I could have imagined. This will be my first burn and, oddly enough, I find myself longin...

A quick Google search for "do it yourself snow globe kit" yielded some nice results. This one looked good:

Helitack - understood. After considering the points made by others on this thread I realized that all of the links on the blog had to go. I want the blog to be about the project and the interesting stuff I find out about Burning Man.

I removed all affiliate links from my blog. The link at the bottom of my posts goes to a blog that is purely informational.

Token,

I have been in touch with the BRCAC and we will be working on ways to use the truck for animal round-ups. I like the safari theme - I will have to give that some more thought.

Like the rest of you, I don’t want BM to turn into a corporate theme park. Although I still disagree that affiliate linking constitutes corporate sponsorship, I do understand that I am getting closer to a line that most burners do not want to cross. With that in mind, I will not promote the idea u...

Thanks everyone for the input! I sincerely appreciate it. The vehicle concept may not be as radical as some of the other stunning mutant vehicles at BM but I believe that it deserves a place on the playa. Let me explain. The original LRDG actually did not conduct raids as much as they served to guid...

MikeVDS - The vehicle will be a modern pick-up truck modified to look like an LRDG (Long Range Desert Group) raiding vehicle. Thanks Dork, To your points - Yes, I have not pushed the fundraising as hard as I could so far. One reason was that I had not developed my blog as much as I wanted. It is looking pretty good now so I am more confident about trying to get the word out. Folks can see that I am interested in the event ...

I want to build a mutant vehicle that will cost about $4,500 to construct and transport to and from the Playa. I was hoping to raise about $2,500 from outside sources. However, there are not very many burners in my area so the typical party / garage sale type of fundraisers are out of the question. ...

Any UK burners out here? I am trying to build a set of WW2 era British Army uniforms for my mutant vehicle project and would like to get some of the gear while I am in London next month. Anyone know of any good military-surplus stores in the London area?

Suggestions for getting art car to BRC from East Coast

Hello all!

I am wondering if anyone has any suggestions on getting an art car (actually art pick-up truck) to BRC from the NYC area. The car can not be driven on public roads and I can not personally tow it as I plan on flying out to the 2007 event.

Thanks!
