Re: Theme Camps that were NOT!

What a curiously poignant thread based on an interaction we had with a neighbor across the street this year. Myself and Dr Jet had just settled in on the roof of the bus in preparation of watching the Man burn and do security overwatch on the camp/village while most everyone else went out to play. F...

Re: how do I get a camp listed so people can find it? Like,

[I have camped a lot unplaced, and our trick was to have people look for a sign at a specific intersection near where we intended to be. Even if we're not at that intersection, people can look for the sign there, and get further instructions to the nearest 5 minutes on the clock. You have an added ...

Re: Does your theme camp embrace racial diversity?

Well, if you actually look at the statistics, it was an extremely isolated incidence. But let's not let facts get in the way. Problem is, people will look at anisolated incident that is for all practical purposes an anamoly and use that as their baseline. Public assistance pretty much breaks down a...

I'm giving this a nudge over to politics and philosophy, since I think that's a better fit for the conversation. Re: Does your theme camp embrace racial diversity?

Just out of curiosity, how racially diverse does the BRC community tend to be? I'm assuming the vast majority of people are white. Does the census they do provide that kind of info? I'm going to go google. But really all I'm looking to find out is veterans' personal observations. Just to be clear, ...

Re: Can you sew billboard tarp?

Done a lot of gluing of billboard vinyl. As FIGJAM said, get the right kind of glue.

Much easier than trying to sew it.

You will want to measure at least 3 times and dry fit all seams at least twice before gluing the pieces together.

Re: Need tips building a 30 ft wooden octogon

It of course depends on application. There are going to be some where thick exterior ply will still be superior such as when you need to span a horizontal surface that is not on 2 foot centers. OSB has a higher vertical load strength. In terms of general construction though, I find OSB to be equal t...

I've seen osb too. Home depot told me they purchase it under the name waferboard. Home Depot sells both OSB and wafer board. It's all crap. No it isn't. OSB is structurally stronger than plywood for a third the cost. It is also significantly more environmentally friendly than plywood since it can b...

Re: Need tips building a 30 ft wooden octogon

The technical name is waferboard, though most call it chipboard. Particle board looks like mdf and is made of sawdust. None are treated, as fencing is. I thought the name was OSB: Oriented Strand Board What is pictured is OSB. OSB differs from wafer board in that the wood strips utilized to manufac...
