Re: Show us your cup (drinking)

I do not drink alcohol--is it still essential to bring a cup with me when visiting other camps? Do camps tend to offer non-alc. beverages (coconut water, juice, etc?) I bought a collapsible silicon cup to carry in my bag...just wondering if the "bring a cup everywhere" rule applies to mainly booze ...

Yep. And they are nice a roomy... big enough to hold a dismembered Sparkle Pony if the need arises... and thick enough to contain the smell for a few days.

Even in a worst case scenario, if the food is precooked and vacuum sealed, it should keep for a week buried in ice.

Re: Water Check at Gate?

You might get asked about supplies at gate, but highly unlikely and would depend on the individual gate person doing your search. I might inquire if I only see a flat of water bottles in a car of 4 people coming in on Monday night. A simple it's on the camp truck behind us is all you need to answer ...

Re: Underwear

When about 1-2am rolls around my underwear (thong) usually comes off anyway which leaves me with only my cape (BATMAN). Most people are cool with it but one dude (forget camp) was being a punk saying I'm going to streak his sofa. I got in his face and that was the end of that. but seriously, BM sta...

Perhaps some people do not want to deal with making unnecessary grey water filled with soap when a quick wipe down with a wipe will work just fine.

Re: Canvas tent becoming noisy?

My Kodiaks, basically the same design as the Springbar, have always made noise in the wind. I would say yes to getting everything as tight as possible since the whole design relies on tension. Are you staked out good and tight? It would probably be a pain at this point since you have already moved i...

Re: Keen Newport Open Shoes okay for Playa?!?

I would like to point out that shoes tend to become very stiff as the dust packs into every nook and crannie such as stitches, the pores in fabric, and absolutely everywhere. So I bring several pair. Quality shoes may recover fully after a good washing. (Or buy several $10,99 pairs at Walmart and d...

Any quality brand boots will be glorious on the playa. I have a pair of Danner Desert Acadia that will be making their 6th year appearance and a pair of Danner Linesmen boots coming back for their second year. I wore my linesmen boots almost daily last year and my feet were so gloriously happy in th...

They will need to plan on having extra water and of course power to run it.

One big help is to use ziplock bags to put your ice in and save your ice melt for stuff like this.

Re: Sledgehammer weight for pounding rebar

I use either a 5 pound baby sledge or my full sized 10 pounder for stakes. We use Bad Dawg's T-Stake Blaster 2000 to pound them in. It weighs in around 40 pounds if I had to guess, but it sure can make fast work out of driving t-stakes.
