Attempt to do all your rational thinking before you get to BRC because once you're there, the prospect of sensible thinking will be unattractive, inconvenient and often difficult, due to the intensity of both the environment and the society. Neither virgin nor veteren Burner can prepare too much. T...

Chuckles at the observant BitterDan. Expect lots of Capitalist leg-pulling this year from non-USians. It's only done in jest though as we know that we're all in the same small boat and we're only contributing to the theme in our own way. The very first reaction of many Burners outside of the US, upo...

Nevada Pre-BM Meet-up

I seem to remember somebody asking a similar thing, about meeting up with Burners In Vegas before heading to BM.

It was either in one of the Facebook or Tribe groups. I've had a look but can't find it again. if I come across it again or anything similar, then I'll let you know.

To make your bespoke 24h clock, you will need: 1. A Ginger virgin that you enticed to BRC via ePlaya, from some land where the sun don't shine. The accuracy of your clock will be far better if you pick a component with lots of freckles and platinum-blonde eyelashes. 2. A ruse for them to remove all ...

Perfect timing VBS I've just read through this thread, wishing my parents were still around to come to BM with me. They used to love camping and would drive my sister and I down to southern France and Spain once a year in an old Ford Avenger. They would have equally mucked in around camp and been o...

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I did a topic search before posting - honest. And I've always associated the term 'shade structure' to mean something made from scratch or modified, like a dome or vehicle lean-to, rather than something purchased. Wish I had more time available in the U...

I agree with hsd's suggestion of building a wooden box to live in. You could even have playa-coloured wooden ramps surrounding it, so that it appears as a mound made on the playa, just like a mole makes. You could have a circular hatch in the roof and decorate the interior walls with mock fossils, b...

Starshade Tents - playa proof?

Does anybody have any experience with 'StarShade tents'? Silly question really, considering the pics I've seen of the eplaya bar! http://www.kdkanopy.com/canopies/product-images/starshade.jpg But, how robust are they to the playa winds? Is the roof high enough to provide cool temperature inside? I'm...

I agree that having a roaming smithy setup is the way to go, especially as it's your first year. Although there is a lot to be said for setting up a great theme camp and letting Burning Man come to you, you'd end up spending most of your time there, rather than exploring the city. You only get to ex...

Roamer stops lurking

Hiya ePlayans, I've been lurking on this board for info and such for the past few years and been a bit more active on Tribe. I'm from London, UK and have been going to TTITD for the past three years , camping with the good ship BRIBH. For the past two years I've run a sub-camp within the Hostel call...

Hiya Live 3 and welcome to The Burning Man experience.
