I'm just thinking back to when I was 14, which was before the age of exotic and multiple piercings. I remember being lost in a reverie one day as I gazed at the simple gold hoops my friend, Wendy, wore in each ear lobe; and the way her hair flowed around and through each one. In that moment she seem...

Many authors/artists have sought inspiration in intoxication. Some peruse the newspapers for ideas (maybe the obits). Others contemplate the lifes of their friends. The surrealists used to take long walks in search of serendipity. I say: Fret not the inspiration, but simply write. Write for the plea...

Common sense. Regarding intersections, I've heard that mothers in Paris cross streets by first poking their baby carriages into the traffic flow to stop the oncoming cars. One hopes that the babies are blissfully unaware of these events. Or perhaps it's just early training to ride a bike in Berkeley.

Kelly's comments are thoughtful and deserve respect and consideration. Her notes point out that there is a real difference between artistic lampooning and hurtful attacks. Its the difference between Julia Butterfly Hill living in Luna for months and an extremest causing the death of some lumber work...

Did I mention that one year I lost my wallet, keys, and eyeglasses at the beginning of the event, stressed all week about it, only to find them in my glove compartment, where I had put them for safekeeping, on the drive home? The first thing I do when I reach my campsite is to stash all my real-wor...

Angry Butterfly's observation of the irony of the tie is so apt! When, in a previous career, I was swimming with the sharks on Wall Street I had to show up every day in a suit. I found sartorial expression in one of two ways: Wear Italian suits instead of Brooks Brother's. Find the coolest ties Cool...

Eric,

As for tie knots I prefer the half-windsor for most ties: it looks balanced and solid. The full windsor works with very lightweight or thin ties, but not with wide or heavy ties. The four in hand just looks unbalanced to my eye.

I've never mastered the bow tie.

"Ya, a super combo, but half vegan."
"And can you deliver it 12 miles northeast of Gerlach? ... Great!"

Like capitalists, burners often follow the creed "find a need, then fill it"; but accept community appreciation as their re...

I'm assuming a fair amount of sarcasm in that last post.

But, hey, someone could open Trash Camp: Fill our dumpster and we'll drive it away for you (first come first serve). That would be a contribution to the community in the BM spirit.
