There are known issues / limitations with online communications and the tone issue is certainly one of them.

That post meant that the Badger I've met on the playa as a Ranger doesn't seem to be the same one that shows up online. The online version is much nastier and unpleasant to deal with in certain cirucumstances, and it's a damn shame too.

The above posting style is one reason why newbies are so intimidated with the eplaya.

And coming from a "Ranger" no less. It's too bad your on playa attitudes don't carry over to the online world.

I confess that I have no fucking idea what 3playa is. http://3playa.cultureshark.net It's an alternative board / spinoff of the eplaya that was created by Trey Goesh over a year ago. In some ways it mirrors the overall ebb and flow of the eplaya with various topics and posters commenting on a range...

There are many ways to answer the question. People are assuming the answer, and acting on the assumption (everyone has to act on some assumption, after all). I'd just like to know DVD's answer. There's the potential for a serious breakthrough here. DVD, are you up for one more try to explain this? ...

Rian, that was my soon to be 17 year old "little" sister I had tagging along in 2003. Burning Man transformed the girl, she's a lot more outspoken, more artistic, and the family feels the trip to BM was the best thing that's happened to her. As for me, I've never really left the eplaya, but I spent ...

Well, it looks like I'm moving. I got all the paperwork done and I pick up the keys whenever I want. That ends a long and frustrating search. Then I had my annual review in front of a peer review group who decided the scores....it's on a 1-5 scale and nobody gets a 1, few get a 2. I got a 2 which I ...

What are you doing driving and posting?

It does look like we'll have to call on St. Jude, the patron saint of lost / hopeless causes but we're not quite there yet. There's still things to try and stuff that can be done quite effectively.

DVD, chill.

There's a right way and a wrong way to handle this. It's being handled. Slowly. Methodically. Effectively. Just because everyone can't see it doesn't mean it's not happening.

Still everyone needs to take a deep breath, step back, and this will get worked out.

Plonk is a crutch used by the emotionally weak to cope with people they haven't learned quite how to handle just yet. If you use it you lose the chance to engage the person and develop suitable coping skills or find resolutions to the core problem. Or in other words plonk is taking the easy way out....

Here's a question for everyone. You're moving to a new place and have room for a small bar. Unlike the bar we have here which can be stocked with anything, this new bar has limited space. What essentials would you keep stocked? It already has the tequila, vodka, whisky, rum, and the wine choices cov...

Yawn. Anti-Fed crossposting. If you leave common sense behind at the gate off 447 then you deserve whatever happens to you. Plus this topic has been beat to death, pulled back through 19 resurrections and reburials, and is now on the verge of becoming a church of it's own: The Church of the Anti-Fed...

If you were stopped for even a few seconds and asked a question you could claim they forced you to breathe playa dust. There are millions of ways to spin a story like this. Unfortunately the San Francisco Bay Area upbringing leaves you thinking like that all the time and creates quite the culture gap between self and midwwesterners.
It's not just an upbringing thing, it impacts transplanted BA people too. I know of one in particular.....

And based on that information I realize I made a mistake in judgement about Badger, ...
