It's the scene where they prep for the last hunt before heading off to Vietnem: EXT. ROADSIDE AREA - DAWN - LATER Shots are ringing out in the hills. NICK, ALBERT and JOHN stand by the roadside while VINCE and MERLE glare at each other. VINCE is still in his tuxedo pants, is still wearing his dress ...

Perhaps I take my comfort on the playa too seriously. I genuinely treat this trip like a mini Apollo mission, with as much proven reliability/redundancy as possible. Thus, for me, it is not enough to suppose , or to just think something sounds right based on conventional wisdom and/or speculation, o...

Thanks for the responses folks! Indeed, we love our less-prepared virgins and veterans, but willful/knowing slackage has to be met with Tough Love. I know others at our camp will pull a Chris Walken (i.e. "What --- the fuck is wrong --- with you? Give him the ------ damn ----weather ---- stripping")...

Just curious as to how others here (who, for the most part seem to be planning ahead to be radically self reliant) deal with friends/family and/or other Burners who essentially seem to plan on letting others take care of the details for them... AT THE BURN. I just had to read the riot act to a frien...

A venturi (aka glorified hole at base) allows cool air to mix in with the hot exhaust fumes to greatly reduce pressure in the tube and hasten the upward climb. Otherwide your genny is doing all the pushing. Go see a photo of the name-brand "Genturi" for design ideas. [quote]"The goal is not the same...

I like the mesh idea but I'm anticipating the bungees will be sufficient due to the woven consistency of the scrim, and the weight of the bubbly center-strip. That silvicool looks... cool! We should do the BM Side-By-Side Comparison and make corporate millions... I mean BILLIONS [pinky to corner of ...

I look forward to hearing the results! btw/ some older RVs have a cool old-school fresh water pre-heater piping system that runs the radiator water back to the water heater and forward again to the radiator. This ads huge volume to the engine cooling system as well as much more ability to disipate h...

Well, we were actually planning on doing it entirely in bubble style, which would have required four 4x25 foot rolls (@$42 ea at HD). It is a 26 foot rig (x 10 ft high x ~ 8 ft. wide), so the plan was two 4x25 foot rolls longways to cover top, front and back, and two attached on the sides. The probl...

Fans would be unnecessary/useless or even detrimental if you ducted the exhaust and intake external to the enclosure. If your enclosure was, ah, totally enclosed (!) then a strong fan would be needed bring fresh/cool air into the system. I don't recommend this, as you would be chasing your tail tryi...

The tape has a very foil-like consistency... in fact it is like very sticky aluminum foil. The radiant barrier is like mylar material, but less shiny, and with "threads" that criss-cross to add strength. It is easily manipulated but won't hold a form on its own for long without the tape. To be more ...

Sweet mother of god do not port your exhaust into water!!! Talk about backpressure! Sure you could have the hot gas blow ON the water and/or meld the exhaust system to the evap container to heat it up, but a sure way to blow your genny up (or at least shorten its life considerbly) is to run the exha...

RVers get CO detector and/or Change Batteries NOW

People please... another couple died at Indy 500 this year in the RV lot due to a NEIGHBOR'S exhaust fumes. If you're going in an RV or are going to be sleeping in a vehicle in close proximity to generators you MUST have a carbon monoxide detector. They are about as cheap and easy to install as a sm...

I won't get into the nitty gritty, but without a venturi there WILL be pressure created unless you're using like 6+ in. diameter line. A venturi (an opening at the base ) allows cool air to mix with the hot air and greatly facilitates the upward movement of the gasses. Most people don't know and/or ...

(Disclaimer: I have nothing to do with this product/company!) Our solution was a Fire Dancer propane fire pit. Here is a link that shows the size/setup, but we got ours on eBay for like $110 shipped. Be careful... all one-ply TP is not created equal! There is some one-ply Charmin at stores that will pamper your ass and leave it smelling like a Spring Morning (whatever that smells like?) but that is about as degradable as a Swiffer... i.e. it will surely clog your system. If you're going with non...

Have you ruled out using the reflectix tape? It comes in duct-tape sized rolls of 25 ft @ $3-$4. We will be using a combination of the bubble-wrap-style reflectix and the flat "foil" reflectix heat barrier to cocoon the top 1/2 of our RV. The pieces will be mated with the reflectix tape, and held do...

Re: RV / vehicle exhaust courtesy

RV exhausts are designed to get the gasses away from the coach without feeding back through the a/c. Even the $149 Genturi system (which has a venturi opening at the base to avoid the excessive backpressure on your generator the dryer hose idea would create) gets bad ratings for fumes and/or setting...
