I'm blown away that something I posted got 26 pages and several thousand views! I guess I have made my contribution to the event! PS> Hitler does not like the new lottery system either. Re: New Burningman Ticket Process - 2012

IMHO, this is a response to a problem created by the Man's reliance on "BM Friends" as tech provider. When their infrastructure couldn't handle the crunch last January, Meltdown Man occurred. A more reasonable approach would be to find a tech vendor who is up to the task. This new lottery system so...

Re: New Burningman Ticket Process - 2012

A) We have no idea how the system will work yet. All this Sturm und Drang is pretty much about change, not about how the lottery will actually work, since we don't have those details. If you're one of those people who's purchased your ticket in Jan-Mar before, you should be fine now. You know what ...

Re: New Burningman Ticket Process - 2012

The thing about running the lottery in mid summer is a unworkable idea and no way they will/can do it. The lottery has to moved to the day after the ticket window closes in mid-February. The one thing I want to know is: How does this solve the problem with ticket scalpers anyways? The old system, th...

Re: New Burningman Ticket Process - 2012

This is a great system for the scalpers. With the old way, they had to scramble to buy tickets with everyone else. Now they can pack the lottery at their leisure. This will be a great year for them. If you really want to solve your woes, make the tickets non-transferable and use amazon's cloud for ...

Re: Ever find your stolen bike?

My statement and logic (No matter how flawed it is) only applies only to Unlocked bikes at Burning Man. It does not apply to anything else in this world, so don't get all Holy Than Now I've Been To Burning Man 20 Times on me. Lock your bike at Burning Man or it will be stolen and you have no one to ...

Re: Ever find your stolen bike?

I don't understand this flawed logic you're on about. I place the blame squarely on the thief, as without the presence of thieves, there would not be need for the "victims" to lock up bikes. Do you also have the same mentality for people who do not lock their doors? Or if the person didn't use a "b...

Re: Anyone have playa regrets?

I have two Playa regrets: The second year I took my wife, we had just gotten married and were on part two of our Honeymoon. Well, she had planned the whole wedding with little help from me (A HUGE mistake on my part) which stressed her out. Then we went on Honeymoon Part 1 to San Luis Obispo, which ...

Re: Best direction to park RV for lowest peak temps

Putting Aluminum foil or mylar over the windows (On the outside) is going to lower the temp in the RV by a 100 factor over the best direction your RV is pointed. I did all of the windows in on our RV this year, and you could really feel the temperature drop as I covered each window. The one facing w...

Re: WTF, Gerlach!

Because the community of Gerlach offered (and BM/JRS endorsed it) as a way to "save money in addition to helping our town". We brought our own, and will continue to do so. The car wash was advertised as being open on Monday. We left playa at 8am and found it closed at 3pm. No biggie, except the sig...

Why would you wait to buy water in a Desert at the last possible place to get water? Get water in Reno or Fallon or Fernley since there are at least a dozen places to get water.

If you want anyone to come to Justice for this, you need to post more information. We need date, time, location and general description of what happen to you. If you saw the attackers and what some of the bystanders looks like. Anything can help, even stupid little bit of information can be help.

I have been following this thread for the 7 years it has been running, and I just want to add, I would have LOVED to have gone to Burning Man as a kid. Re: When It Comes to Tents......Is Bigger Better?

Totally! I use a queen size air mattress and a 9 person Wal Mart Tent and the combo is perfect! You get lots of space to move around, room for your queen size bed, room to store stuff but your are also not taking a huge amount of space. However, the only thing to note, is to make sure to rebar that ...

My cruiser was awesome this year. This year we resolved to get cruisers that...
