Thanks, Genghis. Not surprized, but I like to have the basics as clear as possible.

As I understand it one of the horrors that happened to the Parthanon was the storing of gun powder and subsequent explosion causing damage. Culprits the Turks. (Cyprus is a sticky issue with deep roots.) Then there was the first (or second) shipment of the marbles themselves--lost at sea. (Hey Rober...

Re: Perhaps I/we have just been lucky, but...

Plus, I have been opening up my HOME, in Sparks, to Burners on their ways to the Burn, also, for the last several years. Over 450 people came through my doors last year and NOT ONE ITEM belonging to me sprouted legs, nor anyone else's stuff either, as far as I know. Call me naive, if you will, but ...

Right now there are plans to develop a new LNG port somewhere along the West Coast to feed those plants since we're running low on natural gas. "Somewhere" may = Ventura County. http://www.epa.gov/fedrgstr/EPA-IMPACT/2004/February/Day-27/i4407.htm I believe that there is also interest in Louisiana ...

Ah yes, the "predictable" again.
We have 2 choices.
1 Rex is omnicient.
2 Rex irritates everyone else in the universe with his heavy handed tactics as much as he irritates us and everyone reacts the same.

Re: Pantzooka Patrol

We could really use an old willys jeep if ya have one. The General wants to look cool out there in a Jeep while we shoot pants. What I have is an old (1977) army truck--dodge 3/4 ton full size w/ desert camo paint job. Alas, she wont just fade away, even though she's dying. Not a willys jeep. But d...

Athena a Feminist? I don't think so. . .

Let's remember that Athena okayed Orestes' killing of his mother. He killed his mother (Clymanestra) because she killed his father (Agamemnon.) He had killed their daughter Iphegenia (or is that the beach in Rio?--boy I'm addled) in order to raise a wind to sail to Troy and fetch Helen back. So pote...

Troll abuse etiquette question

Okay, okay, okay. Hypothetical questions here. If our board's current most prominent troll should happen to post an e-mail about an issue that concerns it, and maybe and maybe not ourselves, which happens to contain (along with its usual whining about the process that it won't participate in) an e-m...

I'm sure it depends on the other participents (and whether or not you give off "creep vibes.") There is no hard and fast rule for all situations. In some there is, i.e. the Canadian Beaver Eating Contest is not open to unescorted male viewers. I think most of us can tell if something is public or pr...

Public sexual activity is illegal--although it seems to be selectively enforced. (I.e. participants in homosexual activity are cited and arrested, heteros are not.) Ideally those going full out would do it in their tent or some other discreet location. Keep an eye out for context. Does it seem like ...

I just wish GWB would get off his butt and give us a living example of good ol' fashioned marriage by discarding Laura for a woman who could give him sons. I'm sure there are a lot of nubile, fertile, booty-of-war Iraqi women available this very instant who would be perfectly qualified to be our 2nd...

No, Chai, this year it's going to be based on the percentage of population of certain regions or cities and their representation on the playa at any given time. For example: If region A (Freedonia) has a population of 900,000 and 2,500 of them are on the playa and Region B (Funkytown) has a populati...

INteresting thing I heard on the radio today on the way into work. That historically, admendments to the constitution have been expanding rights.
