Re: the "lottery" negates the need to have tiers at all

The mythology of "lower tiers are for poorer Burners" is as fake as.. Wrongo. We've been living that "fake mythology" for years now, and so have dozens of Burners I know personally. The BM website, the JRS, and many official sources back me up. Perhaps tiers originated one way and changed over the ...

the "lottery" negates the need to have tiers at all

The reason for tiers all along has been that it allows the more affluent Burners to contribute more than their fair share of the costs, so that other Burners who have less dollars but have other things (skills, labour, expertise, etc) to contribute can still do so. What a wonderful concept! It fits...

Re: Shipping to Canada

since tickets aren't being shipped until June I'm wondering if there might be a problem with me getting them in time. I'm from Vancouver. Over the past 4 burns I've always just paid the $11 or so to have the tickets shipped to me. Shipping time between most of the US and most of Canada is 3 busines...

Re: Rename Critical Tits?

Personally I find the name great as is. As for cameras, I always leave mine at camp when I'm going to be viewing Critical Tits, but I don't see anything wrong with someone photographing it from afar, where the identities of the Tit-owners wouldn't be captured, and the camera isn't in their face. I f...

Re: Any logical explanations why Burning Man cost have gone

If you ask me this is just another form of capitalism. Something that has ruined the U.S. Looks like Burning Man is heading down that route. Not to say anything about the rest of your argument, but this part right here is incorrect. The USA is not running on a free-market capitalist system at all. ...

I welcome any attempts to keep law enforcement in check. This year was a doozy. Drove in and first thing I saw was a young dude slammed down over the hood of a cop car having his pockets emptied. It just kept on going from there, all week. We go out in the middle of nowhere, away from society, and p...

Two things: 1) The notice said it was to take place on Thursday, but the website claims the picture was taken on Wednesday. If the website is right, I laid on a tarp in my front yard for 5 minutes in the scorching heat for nothing! 2) I didn't see a high res option. Anyone have a link? At that resol...

The 2006 census lists.. 5% as sometimes gay.. 17% as sometimes bisexual. So 5% are sometimes interested in members of their own gender as well as members of the opposite gender. And 17% are sometimes interested in both genders in addition to members of the opposite gender. Hmmm, I'm not wrapping my...

what's the condition of the playa surface this year?

Last year there were a lot of areas that were loose dust, or a layer of crusty sand on top of loose dust, and it made art and transportation harder than normal. I believe it was due to the playa not flooding during the winter as it normally does. Does anyone know if the playa flooded this time? Does...
