Re: Hwy Burners

Anyways Im loctaed in L.A. and have been here for a year now would be great to meet new friends :) Check out tribe.net if you want to find Burner regionals in Southern California. The San Diego Decompression is a great one to go to, since it's a three day camp-out in the Anza-Borrego Desert, while ...

I'm going to go a bit against the grain and suggest that some kind of volunteering is actually the best way to learn about Burning Man. And it is a great teaching to volunteer for a job that bears no resemblance to what you do off the playa. Of course, the other side of it is to pace yourself. Sinc...

There is a big difference between what they can do and what they are going to do. In a city of 50,000 they make very few arrests and many of them if not most are for warrants. They can use night vision equipment but are not too worried about some hippy lighting up a joint. If they see you dealing c...

Are there 10' lanes on I-80 west bound also or are they just in the east bound direction? Both directions, the east bound ones are scarier. Actually, the lanes are technically 9 foot max at the luge, but I know professional drivers that have taken 9' 4" diesel-pushers through, albeit VERY carefully...

THE NAME OF THIS CAMP IS THE BEST THING I HAVE SEEN ON EPLAYA IN A LONG TIME.

Also, get "You Can't Judge a Book By it's Cover" by Bo Diddley playing if you really want to get the place jumping. Man, if I had a nickel for every time I danced naked to that song, I would have 35 cents.

A year or two ago (the year that Perseides coincided with the new moon), I went out and camped on the playa with some friends. I swear, we must have seen at least 200 - 300 meteors in the hour or so before we got bored. It was nuts.

Southern California has a massive Burner community, so there should be no trouble there. Look on Tribe for regional events that you could go to over the summer to meet people - probably the best way to figure out who you want to go with. I'll ask around and post here if there are any planned.
