Re: 7 people seeking camp

Luke, man, this is honest criticism based on what you posted. As a group, you're willing to throw a lot of money at camp facilities. That rubs many burners the wrong way. You say you'll pitch in, but you cannot arrive early nor stay late. The organizing is happening now, not on playa. You do not me...

Re: 7 people seeking camp

Plug n play is what you're looking for. Pay up front, show up with the camp already set up, party and then get out before takedown. Sorry but that's really what you're wanting. And spare me the "handy" part. The camp will be in place with the folks who set it up knowing how to manage it, so your "pr...

Re: Howling at the Temple Burn?

I think the only thing that's really a no-no at the Temple burn is any loud music being played by an art car. That happened a few years back and everyone was pretty pissed as it did feel disrespectful. Cries, laments, howling? Hey if you need to express yourself that way I see no problem with it. If...

Re: Want to Volunteer on a Camp!

This is the usual plea of someone who wants everyone ELSE to work around their particular issues or schedule. I just read this and it annoys me. They just want to pay and play. Oh I know they will help and all that. But they can't come early to help set up because it didn't fit your travel plan. May...

So the usual thing happened. OP comes in with the "great idea" (that benefits him). He gets lit up by people who have experience with this, having seen it time and time again. OP gets butthurt and stops commenting. I mean come on! You couldn't have responded a couple more times so we could pound you...

Re: Google East and Selling Out

Isn't there something in the current artist contract that gives the BORG a cut of future sales? Inquiring minds would like to know what is in that contract! On honorarium projects it's 10% of the sale price. Which isn't bad considering they give you the money to build it and the largest gallery in ...

We'd have to know what it is you want help on. You say you want to qualify it for a day license but you got a night license. What's it look like? What do you want it to look like? If you want help here, you need to send some pictures and you need a concept you'd want to try. Then you have to get per...

Re: Accept me for who I am

When I first said I was going to Burning Man in 2008, I asked my wife if she wanted to go. She said no. I went. Met a woman on the playa and fell in love with her. We are now married and the one who said no way is my ex. Never been happier. And WE go every year. That's all I got.

If you can, I'd suggest remaining in Santa Rosa. Space in the East bay is very scarce and rents are zooming. Traditional places (American Steel) are feeling the heat as well.

I had a pleasantly uneventful year in regards to LEO interactions, however, a camp mate of mine was freaking out on Saturday because she claimed that "all these people are getting busted" and "large camps are getting randomly searched," and all this stuff. I think it's her first time here.. maybe s...

You know what? I could care less if the Man burns. In fact, in the interests of saved resources put the same one up every year. Then have the gathering on Saturday, have all the fire performers, make it the best fireworks show imaginable with big music all synched up, and then it's OVER. If you must...

It it's me, I'd start with fleshing out your concept. One main questions here; Big or little? Sounds like it's fairly big (Car or truck frame) if you have others involved. Go wild on design first. Remember it has to get through DMV review to be allowed on playa. But once you get your design up, the ...

One question. How many of the leftover bikes actually still worked? Could it be that a lot of the dumping is people who's bikes fall apart (Cheap or not well cared for) just say "fuck it" and leave them where they finally broke down?

Three years ago my wife and I were cruising the playa Monday afternoon in our little art car. We were amazed at the number of bikes left abandoned on the playa. Since we had a small flatbed trailer, we thought we might help by picking up some of the bikes and taking them to DPW where we had heard yo...
