Re: Mutant Car for 2016 cons and pros...

The most important question to ask yourself will be; "When I get done, will anyone know what the original chassis is?" Meaning, will the original vehicle be so altered as to not be noticed for what it was. If you can do that AND combine the lines you want to highlight on it , you'll be fine. The sma...

Re: 2016 Moop Map

MOOP Day 4 has been posted in the Journal. http://journal.burningman.org/2016/09/black-rock-city/building-brc/moop-map-2016-day-four/ That's a huge pile of cocaine in the "special MOOP" photo! Can anyone tell me a way to zoom in on it? Hard time seeing my camp Though not perfect, you can right-clic...

our art piece Ursa major. Jesus Christ, I just realized that you said that was your art piece. I fuckin' loved it! My girlfriend and I were talking about this year's art a couple of days ago and I mentioned that one as possibly being my favorite this year. Truly an amazing piece. I didn't realize i...

I put this in Top asshats of 2013 by accident. Guess I need to read better...... My ass-hat was at our art piece Ursa major. Girl and guy were looking at her and they asked if I was the artist and I said yes. The guy politely asked if it would be okay to climb it. I said it really wasn't set up to c...

thing is, IMHO, it's a pain, unless that was your child missing. We can discuss the merits of this being an "18 and over" event, sure. We can discuss the age of majority, too. But, the law is that under 18 is a minor. And, if a minor is missing, and possibly in danger, we find them. It's not just t...

I'm thinking 20 guys, each with a nice new leaf blower, all in a conga line starting from upwind of the camp, advancing in lockstep, led by the Bonerpillar. What say you guys? Yanno, I might even buy a leaf blower just to join in. And I gave up on Spike Lee after his fourth movie. I had a...

That might be the Disney-est thing that's happening to Burning Man: long lines for the cool stuff.
What? You should have boated right up to it and claimed to be doing a Coast Guard Lighthouse inspection.

I don't think that what's going on will continue much longer. The glitteratti will find a new "thing" to throw money at. Others will tire of the the event itself for all kinds of reasons and stop coming. Numbers will dwindle. 5-6 years from now we'll be back to 40-50 thousand people who just LOVE th...

I think you may have seen the tipping point of the major "wow!" large art projects. The 747 was as expected; a lot of hype, but not much else. This is why I stayed small all these years with the golf cart frame/mini semi. Had it now for four years and I'm still tinkering, adding or repairing plus a full trailer transport up there. I can't even imagine all the work that goes into a large MV. I agree with everyone here though that it will be...

! week on the playa isn't gong to do much. May a spot or two but not much. If you are worried put a coat of clear coat on it. You can buy it in a spray. Keeps the oxidation from getting in.

Re: Protecting my trip and ticket when carpooling with strangers?

Rather than keeping a printed list of voided tickets, drivers should keep a printed photograph of Sparr so they dont inadvertently pick him up. That's part of the reason I put my photo up here. People asked for it so they could recognize me to avoid me. Not me! Anybody who could so frustrate, enter...

Re: Partying during Early Arrival?

Leap - yes, you may use a regular vehicle before the gates open to go retrieve gear from the NYC container. As always, keep it under 5mph (keeps dust from kicking up too much and minimizes ruts), and avoid driving on the Esplanade. As for the rules against partying pre-event, I think placement does...

This could be the greatest single story to come out of the burn this year. Do you realise what could happen? I did and there was not one scenario that ended well. RV could be there alright, but completely trashed and the occupants scattered to the four winds. And it better be yours, because no renta...

Just looked at Craigslist and saw at least 5 decent deals for Vans in the 2000-3000 range which is what you could expect to rent an RV for (Probably more?) At least two were set up inside already. So if you have the cash to rent, do what the Captain said and BUY instead! Trick it out and have fun!

At least the flat bed trailer would make a nice, elevated platform to throw down a couch or beanbag and watch the sunset, maybe some sexy-time too. Who knows... Let me know where you want it and I'll make sure to park it there. I might even have a couch to throw on top. And feel free to give it a c...

Park my truck out there? No way. But my flat bed trailers (for bringing my art car and art piece)? Absolutely. I tried this last year and it was great except I almost got boxed in by camps that sprung up around it. Now at least I know that won't happen.
