Passing on the road

Don't pass on the road once you're in the long line in or out. If you pass one vehicle, there will be another immediately in front of you. Take a breath. You'll get there. My husband was nearly killed in 2004 because the guy driving the van he was in felt like he was so much more important than ever...

lugging poo? eeew! I was SO impressed with how well maintained the PortaPotties were. Always clean, always stocked with toilet paper. I enjoyed the art that got installed in some, I had fun with my fellow Burners during the rare waits. I kept a pee bottle in my tent for the 3AM call, and emptied it ...

A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood

What would Mr Rogers do? I was a virgin last year, camping with a theme camp. Our next door neighbors, Bacon Without Borders, taught me by example. They pulled in with a bunch of RVs and came over to meet us first thing, telling us to please let them know if they did anything annoying, and to drop b...

Buff for your head

Last year was my first burn, and I bought a Buff for my head. It was fookin' brilliant! I wore it all day most days (with braids). It kept the dust out of my hair and occasionally I extended it over my nose and mouth. I can't imagine how I ever lived without one. http://www.planetbuff.com/?gclid=CKL...

Italo Calvino's Invisible Cities. Which is in some way, maybe every way, about Venice, Penguin. It's the first book I thought of when I learned the theme is Metropolis. Black Rock City is the most fantastic of the Invisible Cities.

That was along 5:00 between Adapt and the Esplanade. I walked by it a lot since it was around the corner from our camp. I thought it was rich with hilarious irony: Circle the wagons! I kept meaning to take pictures but when I got around to it some of the RVs had left, ruining the effect.

Past and Future Letterboxes

I found one Letterbox from 2006 at atlasquest.com. The Time Machine letterbox at Carbon Dioxide camp has already been posted on both Atlasquest and letterboxing.org, as well as a letterboxing gathering at Carbon Dioxide camp on September 3. I hope there will be a letterboxing renaissance in Black Ro...
